We had a fantastic afternoon with David in his studio. Our group of 3 learned so much from David who patiently and thoroughly walked us through the glass blowing process along with the technical components. We highly recommend his studio and lessons.

My husband and I recently took a two week road trip to Maine from our home in Alabama. We saw beautiful scenery and had some wonderful meals, including a terrific week-long stay at the Inn at Sunrise Point in Lincolnville, ME. While there, the owner, Daina Hill, recommended we try a class in glassmaking from a local artist. Our afternoon spent with David Jacobson learning about making glass was the absolute high point of the trip!! We've been a fan of his glasswork for several years, but this was our first opportunity to experience the unique and amazing fun of learning with him in his studio. The drive to his studio was a great chance to explore Maine countryside, and the opportunity to work with David was amazing. The entire session was interesting and clearly tailored to each individual to ensure the best possible learning experience. He's a superb teacher....we learned "hands on" about the total process, trying out every tool, "pulling cane," and then making our own drinking glasses. David clearly loves his work, and is incredibly talented both at glassmaking and sharing it with others....we absolutely loved the experience and our finished products. We highly recommend the class, and look forward to a repeat experience next time we visit.
Thanks!

Hi Lindsay, I'm so glad you and Doug had a great time. And, of course, I did, too. Enjoy the vases you made. I really look forward to meeting the rest of your family. Best, David

What an amazing morning we had with David learning how to blow glass. We had preplanned this class for the whole family and it turned out to be a rainy morning, so what better day to do something inside and get some cooler weather on a day when you’re going to be near a 1000 degree furnace. David is a very nice gentleman who is patient, creative, accommodating and takes a good deal of time to make sure everyone has a wonderful experience. You can choose to make your own vase, drinking glass or Christmas ornaments. You chose the color or colors.

The studio was about a half an hour from Camden and the surrounding area and is housed in a beautifully restored barn on his private property. It is nicely laid out and roomy enough that our family of four had plenty of space to relax while each person worked one on one with David. We even had a cute as heck furry friend to pet and play with. To partake in this activity properly you need to be able to hold a rod with glass in the fire and you hold it at around chest level. My guess is it weighs about 20 lbs. Also – to blow glass you need to be able to kneel at the end of the work table. All other work is done standing on your feet.

Pieces have to sit and cool for almost 24 hours before being handled, so you can either go pick up your pieces the next day, or David will deliver them to your hotel. Or you can ask David to ship things for an extra fee. We simply paid him an extra fee for shipping and two days after we arrived home, the finished products were delivered right to our front door. The vases the teenagers made are going to be great presents for their grandmothers this Christmas!

Hi Christie, I'm really glad you and your whole family had such a good time. I know I did. And that furry friend, Willie the Golden Retriever, did, too. He enjoyed all of the attention! Thanks for giving all of this detail, too, as to what takes place. You have a very good memory. Let me know how the grandmothers like their gifts. I hope you and the rest of the gang will return soon. Take care, Best, David

I took an introductory class from David in February of this year and came back for a second more advanced lesson yesterday. I had amazing experiences both times. David is one of the nicest people and best teachers I've ever met. On my first visit I worked with David to make a cocktail-sized drinking glass in a color I selected (tomato red). During my class yesterday I assisted David in making vases. Blowing and shaping glass is so different from anything I've ever done and so different from any other art-type experience I've ever done. I would recommend taking a class to anyone and everyone I know. I also recommend stopping by his studio to see his finished work and to buy. This was an incredibly cool and fun experience.

What a wonderful man and teacher! David helped us turn glass crystals from our wedding ceremony into a beautiful glass-blown vase that we’ll treasure forever. We had such a blast in his studio and appreciated his expertise, craftsmanship, and passion for teaching. We will be back!

My wife and I took the 1 hour glass blowing class with David, and had an absolute delight of a time! We created a few Christmas Ornaments and a wine glass which all came out quite beautifully, and David was very helpful and let us do the work after demonstrating, and also took back over for the final shaping of the items.

Fascinating and really fun! David is a great craftsman and a skilled, inspiring teacher. The vases we created look professionally made—David made blowing glass accessible and enjoyable to first-timers like us. (And this won’t be our last time.)

After class, we drove into nearby Camden to shop and Belfast for lobster, then we stayed overnight in David’s beautiful, comfortable guest suite.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Thank you! Love that review. I’m so glad you two had such a good time. And thanks for the plug about my AirBnb. It has been working out very well. Stay here at the suite, go downstairs to try your hand at glassblowing, and then head out to enjoy the sites of Maine. I look forward to you both coming back here. All the best, David

Thank you so much, Ashley. What is fun for me is that I enjoyed myself as much as you did. It is hard not to get mesmerized by glass. And I am very happy that this experience will contribute to your life-long memories. All the best, David

We’ve visited the beautiful glass blowing studios of Murano, Italy, and admired the artistry of Chihuly in Seattle. Our family trip to Camden, ME drew us to try the class offering of David Jacobson in Montville, ME. The beautiful fall drive to his studio would be even more breathtaking in just a couple more weeks when more of the leaves turned color. His quaint, cheerful place displayed some of his works, which churned the creativity wheels of all of us!

David Jacobson is a patient, friendly instructor. He made all of us feel like glass blowing apprentices as we each created our own custom works of art! It was an extremely fun experience! Our family consisted of ages 21-86 (the “type of visit” didn’t include a family of all adults). Even our 86 year old grandfather enjoyed creating his art piece! This class would be enjoyable for responsible teens as well. We highly recommend this enjoyable experience!

Well, thank you so much for your kind words. It was great to work with all of you, and I had an excellent time. You were all fun to work with. I’m glad I made you feel comfortable. Glassblowing is so much fun, isn’t it. Oh, and your pieces came out beautifully. I’ll mail them Wednesday, like we discussed. Enjoy the rest of your trip.
