One Of Our Favourite Places

Already being there 3 times. But we still love it. There is also a hike up there. But my Swiss mountain climber was not at all happy. But my Hash buddies do it.

Couldn't believe the the rock is resting at the edge of the mountain top. Survived many earthquakes. Must visit this place.

To see this place, you have to do a wild ride on an open truck to come close to this rock. When we were there, it was cold and raining. Everybody wore plastic covers. There were a lot of local people there. Because this is a holy place, you have to walk all the way (I think that were two... More

You can take hi-way bus to bottom of the Kyaik Hti Yoe Mountain. And then you have two options. If you are an adventure type, you can walk through 33 mountains from the trekking path. If you would like to do that you should go with the group and should not carry the heavy things. You can send your bags... More

It is a long trip from Yangon. The rock is very important for Buddhist people. It was very busy with local people. The Rock is nice located, and yes full of gold. The way up is a dirty and smells. My advise is skip this attraction, not nice enough to spend two travel days to see it or combine it... More

If you are not a Buddhist worshipper, believing in Buddhas hair keeping this rock in its positiion and making it therewith one of the most sacred places for a Buddhist pilgrim, then there is only one reason to visit this place: adventure. It starts in Kin Pun (Kin Poon) with your struggle to get a seat in one of the... More

This is a must do attraction. The ride to the top in a truck is an experience in itself. Lots going on to see at the pagoda, but it is unclean, rubbish here and there, dirty floors to be walked barefoot and piles of rubbish over the boundary walls and on the mountain trip (unfortunately not unusual in quite a... Golden rock is a well-known buddhist pilgrimage site in mon state. This small pagoda is built on top of a granite boulder which was covered by gold leaves by the devotees, Legend says that the golden rock is precariously perched on a strand of the buddha's hair. The rock defies gravity and looks as if it was to fall off... More

Initially, we did not want to go as we were told by another tour agency it will take 3 hrs to reach there from Yangon & they cannot go Bago & Mon State on the same day, & they will need to charge 2 different trips. But we are lucky to find a driver who is willing to take us... More

Fascinating place. Take the train to get there. Slow but comfortable and an experience in itself. Golden Rock is worth the trip out there- not incredible but we left saying 'glad we came'. Stay maximum one night in Kin Pun- it's just a little hole of a town. But we were glad we went. The rock is a fun trip.
