Golden Rock under renovation when I was their but could still line up to go and see and touch the rock. Very moving to see the people of Myanmar their reaction to touching the golden Rock. To my surprise only Men can actually touch the rock.

It's a rock, covered in gold leaf, that can be applied only by men. Not much more to say...although I understand it is the site of annual pilgrimages by those more devout than I.

I really felt this was overrated. We got charged a 6000 kyat foreigner fee and right next the stairs up to the rock was a trash pile (something I find infuriating about this beautiful country). Once you've taken your shoes off you have a bit of a walk to the rock and there were piles of dog faeces about the... More

The golden rock at kyaik tee yoe should be on all Myanmar travellers itinerary. The trip up the mountains in the precarious trucks modified to sit 60 people at one go is an experience in itself! Apart from the Rock itself, which is truly bmind boggling teetering at the edge, the surrounding scenery is also a treat for your efforts!... More

It looks like it is going to fall, but doesn't. There are a lot of steps up the hill, but worth seeing the pagoda and the views. I had clear skies and got great shots.

It is a nice attraction, a must see. But I disagree extremely with their politic. It's way too far and too expensive and I had the feeling I was charged more just because I'm not a local

@pblanche "Our guide said she had to wait 7 hrs for a seat at the back one time." Maybe she mean 7 minutes. You dont have to wait at least 15 min in rain season.

It's a must-visit place. The ride up and down the steep hill in a truck is risky. There seems to be a cable car project in the pipeline. The view is magnificent and the walk around the golden rock is soothing.

We hired a local taxi driver for our visit to Kyaikto fromYangon, who suggested we also visit the War Memorial and ancient city of Bago on our way. He charged us USD 110 for the entire trip that we thought was reasonable. Couple of pointers before I write about my experience. First, May-June are the hottest months where the temperature... More
