We spent a night right there very close to the Golden Rock. So we were there at the night time as well as at dawn. The place was crowded especially at night as the local will sleep at the courtyard close to the pagoda. It was chilling. It needs to transfer to ride on the local truck for going up... More

We went to the golden rock by trucks from the foot of the mountain in daytime, a real bumpy ride. The site was really cool but apparently so were we.. we had a lot of photos taken but not with the stone, the people were really sweet though. A weird thing, if you're a foreigner you have to pay a... More

We traveled through Myanmar almost 3 weeks. This was one of our most magical moments. Stay for sunset, unique! Watch Golden Rock change colors while sun gets down, feel the warm tiles under your feet and soak the magic atmosphere when families from all over the country visit and pray.

The journey to Golden Rock begins with excitement from taking the local truck to the mountain through the road with hundred curves. When we arrived at the mountain, feel like we were back more than 50 years ago. Many local people carrying things for making merit at the pagoda. There is local people providing service to carry those who needs,... More

To be honest: I feel really disappointed by the trip to the golden rock. I expected a quiet and mystic place with buddhists praying around a golden rock. Forget it! It's the complete opposite! We got up early to see the sunrise from the peak of the mountain. When we came to the place where the trucks are leaving, it... More

Did a same day return from Yangon and it took almost 4 hours to reach the base camp. There were heavy traffic due to the full moon celebration on the 14th and people were already making ways to the top of the mountain a day ahead. It was crazy. At base camp you need to get on a truck, either... More

This miraculously balance rock with pagoda atop is an awe inspiring 100% must see venue. The 35 minute open truck ride, with a crammed in 6 to a bench, to the top of the mountain and walk through the market, food and souvenir stalls is more than rewarded with several great viewing and photo spots even before one arrives at... View from the top is the best one. Especially greate during the sunset. One of the most important sacred places in Burma. Amazing... More
