good holy place for Buddhist and religious travellers

it's really worth to get there and see the surroundings upon the mountain there. When you've arrived, you could have seen the local sweet and food along the way to the temple.

The view and journey up to the Pagoda really feel like an adventure. In the back of a truck up seemingly never ending switchbacks till you reach the car park. A short walk from there takes you to the sacred site. Women arent allowed to the Pagoda itself, but there is a viewing platform where you can get excellent photos.... More

Even if this location is quite remote from Yangon the 5-hour drive is truly worth it! The place is amazing and the way to reach it is also a true experience. You take local transportation up and down the mountain (30 to 45 minutes) and ride with local people in open truck. Then to reach the Golden Rock you follow... More

It is quite a trip from Yangon at around 3 1/2 hrs each way, It is quite interesting to see but not sure if it is worth the time and expense to get there. As others have said there are great views and the truck ride up is interesting at the least but all in all it is a rock... More

It is an interesting place to photograph and visit, seeing the rock in near toppling position and the views down the mountain. Also there are so many interesting people visiting. Many sleep near the rock..

The ride in the back of a truck up to the summit on a well made but torturous road of hairpin bends was worth any discomfort for the thrill of it all and the pleasure of sharing the trip with excited locals. we were unlucky in that there was constant rain and mist so we could not see sun rise... We woke up at 2 am in the morning and set off to Kyaiktiyo pagoda from Yangon. It took us 4 hours drive to reach the destination. On top of that, we have to take a 30 minutes lorry ride to the top of Kyaiktiyo . The lorry ride was adventurous like a roller coaster ride. Though it's adventurous, it... More

This is an exceptionally dtunning place to go and visit. The ride up is an experience and if you like fourwheel driving you will love it. We explored the market im the village next to the rocl and they werent so great. People were not so friendly. Apart from this it was great. Kinpun is a borin, siteless town so... More

Really nice place during sunset and sunrise. Chilly at night so do bring a jacket. Mosquitoes comes especially if you are resting or dining. So do bring mosquitoes repellent. The road up the mountain is quite curvy, the locals will rush up the truck vehicle without queuing, so do join them with the rush! Quite fun, great trip! Quite a... More

We were told very few tourists come to Kyaikto - we can't understand why. Make sure you stay the night, to see it at sunset. It is an astonishing monument in a stunning setting, and to see it with hundreds and hundreds of local pilgrims was a very special privilege. The truck trip up the mountain and back (with some...
