Lovely little church with CS Lewis connection
Sep 2020 • Friends
I wanted to visit CS Lewis’ grave as I was staying nearby. There is a signpost in the graveyard directing you to it. This is a tranquil little graveyard surrounding a lovely church. We were lucky to be able to go inside and so found the little Narnia window that a donation from the Howe’s on behalf of their children supported.
Worth a visit, although reading gravestone inscriptions always makes me sad.

I can remember the village before all the houses were build near the church we used to have bonfires there and cook potatoes. I lived next door to the Six Bells when there were two cottages

The Church is super cute and peaceful. It is a little way on a path that is nice. The cemetery is pretty small, which made it easy to find CS Lewis’s grave. Very special spot.

Beautiful atmospheric church and churchyard

Tranquil and beautiful village church and churchyard. Resting place of CS Lewis. Well worth the little trip off the beaten path and the village is nice to visit too. You can use the Oxford Bus pick me up service or walk from Headington Shops. A car is not needed.

BEAUTIFUL, SPIRITUAL, and TRANQUIL

C. S. Lewis and his brother Warren (Warnie) attended this church and both are buried in the church’s graveyard. It is a small but beautiful Anglican Church about a 10-15 minute from the Kilns, Lewis’ home for more than 30 years. Be sure to search out the pew where Lewis sat. It is located behind one of the support columns and is marked by a brass plaque. It is said that Lewis liked this pew because he was less visible by other congregants and it had a direct line of sight view of the pulpit. If you are a fan of C. S. Lewis this is a must visit.

Very quiet and peaceful place. Difficult to find parking. Great place to spend an hour learning about your favorite Narnia author.

Pretty Church

A truly lovely little church in Headington Oxford - made famous as it is the resting place of C S Lewis. If going to see the grave then it really is worth having a look inside the church. The etched windows are different but beautiful.

Beautiful!

After seeing so many large/grand cathedrals around England and Ireland, it was nice seeing a humble, quaint church. I only got to see it from the outside and I wish it was open when I went. There's supposed to be a stained-glass window with Narnia on it. I really wanted to see that.

A must go for anyone who loves Lewis!

CS Lewis' church and grave
Aug 2017 • Couples
We had the opportunity to visit this church on Sunday for a eucharist service. The service was lovely and the people were friendly. A large portion of the reason for our visit was to visit the grave of CS Lewis. The stone was easy to find and had several tokens of appreciation for it. The Warden of the Kilns (CS Lewis' house) also showed us the graves of several people who figured prominently in his life including his priest and his deceased friend's mother whom he helped to care for. An essential stop on a Lewis "pilgrimage"
