A great place for a fun stay
Jun 2021
The Shark is a charming double cottage with the added attraction of having a shark diving into its roof :) The house is very comfortable with plenty bathrooms, spacious bedrooms with comfortable beds and a well fitted and laid out kitchen. It is so handy for restaurants, shopping and public transport. An ideal place for a fun stop over in the Oxford area.

Quirky to say the least.

If you want to see something quirky and unusual then go have a look at the Headington Shark. A seven metre shark that has apparently nosed dived into No 2 New High Street a little terraced type house. New High Street is a one way street with parking restrictions along its length so its really a question of having your phone or camera at the ready. A quick stop, shoot and off. That said it is still worth a look.

People do the strangest things!

Installed in 1986. Perhaps not what I would have sticking out of my roof but definitely makes you smile as you turn a corner into this residential street!

Great to drive past
Sep 2020 • Couples
We drove past the Headington Shark on Sunday. I remember seeing it on the news years ago so it was great to have a drive past as we were in the area.

Beautifully bizarre, wonderful, and absurd

Amazingly silly, absurd, obscure, eccentric - however you choose to describe it, it’s well worth a detour. Worth reading up on the history behind it.

Unexpected and bizarrely funny!

Yes, it really is a shark diving into the roof of a house. A sight to make you smile and showing the quirky humour of the homeowner.

Fun to see - don't stop.

This is a fun site in Marston. You can literally see it as you drive by. Maybe stop for a couple of pictures. That's it. Just a funny sight to see.

Quirky attraction

It’s pretty cool to see a shark sticking out of a roof, a great photo opportunity :) super easy to find as it’s on a residential street.

Quirky attraction

Not the sort of thing I would want in my roof, but a reminder of its original owner Bill Heine. We passed it on our walking tour, and it is worth a detour to see simply because of its uniqueness.

Its a shark sticking out of a house. No more, no less
Jan 2020
Its certainly unique and is something of a piece of local pride. A classic piece of English eccentricity. Its certainly worth seeing if you happen to be in Headington and can make a diversion from the high street, but I wouldn't think it would be work a special trip for, for instance from the centre of Oxford. There are other more spectacular sights in the city.
