Shotover revisited
May 2021
Sad to see how run down Shotover has become. It used to be beautiful at this time of year, smothered in wild bluebells and gorse. Now it’s smothered in brambles, and the paths have become eroded from excessive footfall and mountain bikes.

Great Fun

A really good place to go for a walk, sometimes though the signs for the routes can be confusing and it is easy to get lost but would recommend

Went on a monday to do a Youtube drone video. 3 days later (today) had a mountain bike ride at a proper course hidden at the end and also into what we all think of as Shotover, Nice place, good car park but no toilets.

Lovely area of woodland and hills
Jul 2020
We discovered Shotover as a half way meeting place between London and Birmingham as the lockdown eased sufficiently for us to meet at an open air venue. We had two lovely picnics during the day and explored some fascinating and beautiful paths. The road to the car park is narrow and quite hard to find, but there is a fair amount of parking space and as we went on a Monday rather than at the weekend it was not too crowded. No cafe or public toilet facilities.

Busier because of lockdown? Parking nightmare
Jun 2020 • Friends
A friend and I arranged to meet here as it seemed like a good location to meet halfway. Neither of us are from the area. Google maps took us both to the middle of an industrial estate (beware!). When I got back on track with a specific postcode there were no signposts, I just kept driving in the hope I’d come across it eventually. Up a single track road and found the car park at the top of the hill. It was full so had to do some squeezing in.
The walk itself was lovely!
Getting out was another matter! There were queues waiting to get down the hill due to the single track road and traffic coming up. Cars were parked all over the place, verges etc which made manoeuvring very difficult.
I did hear someone say they had never seen it so busy. A lovely walk but the route in and out made it less enjoyable. I wish I’d have been aware of some of this before I went.

Excellent

So close to the city, yet lots of walks in ancient woods. Lots of dogs and some cyclists so have to be awake. Muddy in parts. A good find.

Great place so close to Oxford for some fresh air and a dog walk - or just a walk. So nice to meet friends and walk the dogs together in picturesque countryside.

Lovely place to visit, amazing country park area so close to Oxford, but its lovely and quiet, an amazing find. And with waymarked walks, and leaflets availble by the notcie board (in plastic boxes to keep them dry). Well looked after.
