    A good night
Overall it was a good night out. The Shed maze was my favourite! In my opinion, the clown maze needed some work.. the actors were saying really random things that were just totally not relevant to the theme which just made it weird and not scary to be honest. Also getting sent round in huge groups is just a big no no! We kept getting stuck behind people in front of us which then ruined our experience of the maze as we didn't get any scares. Why can't we go round with just who we've come with?? The actors wandering round were great fun.. although there were 3 cheerleaders that did absolutely nothing, didn't even try to interact with the crowd. The circus was a fab added bonus, I enjoyed that. Overall I rate my night about a 7 out of 10. Thanks.
Hi Emma, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We're pleased to hear that you enjoyed your visit to The Shed and found our roaming actors to be great fun. Your feedback about queue line batching has been noted and will be passed to the relevant team to investigate. It's great to hear you enjoyed the Circus Of Horrors, I'm a huge fan of this years show too! I'd like to thank you again for your review, feedback like yours is essential in helping us improve and provide the best experience for our guests. We hope to see you again and strive to make your next visit a perfect 10! Warm regards, Ed

    Fantastic Halloween fun
Brilliant day at the freaky fun fest for Halloween. There was loads to see and do, circus was fantastic and the Halloween haunts were great. The kids had a great day and us adults enjoyed ourselves too. Will definitely be booking again next year!

    I was surprised 👍
So, went here with my better half, her sister, niece and my god daughter. Parking, plenty of it, all on hard standing, all rows big enough for four cars but only had three in, bonus for car door banging avoidance. Entry, I cringed at the price….. but….when we got in I’d say it was more than worth it. Halloween fun, this was great for the 4 year old with us, and me, the 43 year old. It was genuine fun for all the family, we ran around having a great time feeding the animals and petting the goats and ponies. Food, I think we could have taken in a packed lunch but we didn’t. We are in the street food area, fresh, hot food was very impressed with it all. Couldn’t fault it, if anything the cans of fizzy drinks were a bit steep, but the food, faultless. Circus, didn’t even know it was there, saw the tent, knew we had to go. Went to the lunchtime show, we all loved it, spectacular show for the kids, don’t think the little one blinked the entire time. Gift shop, thought this was going to be a dig deep in the wallet moment, I was so surprised at the prices, I even looked to make sure the prices were correct under the items. £9.99 for a large tractor and trailer, great value. It was so good value we happily walked around and chose a couple of toys and they came in under £10. All in all, a blooming great day out, yes it was a hit at the gate but the fun and attractions more than made up for the cost.
Dear Karlos, Thank you for taking the time to leave us this review. We’re so glad to hear that you had a great family day out at our Freaky FunFest event. As you mention, we feel like we offer great value for the price paid with all of the activities as part of Freaky FunFest included in entry. Our Circus has been popular this year, receiving great feedback so we’re glad to hear that you all thought this also. It’s great that as well as all of the Halloween activities, you managed to stroke and feed our animals and even pay a visit to our Gift Shop before leaving. We’re pleased to hear that you enjoyed the food you ordered, we do ensure our pricing is in line with other similar businesses. Thank you again for your feedback, we hope to welcome you all back again soon! Many thanks, Mead Open Farm

    Christmas
We had a fantastic time at Mead open farm today. The whole Christmas setting was lovely from the moment you walked in. I have to praise all the staff. We had our 8 year old daughter with us; who has selective mutism, and all the ‘staff’ especially the elves and Santa himself, were absolutely brilliant and had obviously been made aware of how to deal with children with additional needs. This made the whole experience stress free and enjoyable for her. All the activities were so well organised and great fun for the whole family, even our 14 year old son managed to enjoy himself! Would definitely recommend visiting at Christmas time.
Thank you, Kirsty, for your wonderful review. We're so pleased to hear that your visit to Mead Open Farm was fantastic and that the Christmas setting added to the experience. It's heartening to know our staff, especially the elves and Santa, provided a supportive and understanding environment for your daughter. We're committed to ensuring a stress-free and enjoyable experience for all visitors, regardless of their needs. We're also glad that the activities were fun for the whole family, including your 14-year-old son! Your recommendation is greatly appreciated, and we hope to welcome you back in 2024. Merry Christmas to you all.

Great time but poor car park
Had a great time with my 6yr old grandson. Santa Claus was brilliant as were all the elves and staff. Only down side was the parking. Overflow parking was on muddy ground and car got stuck. Had to spread roof chippings from a nearby pile to get moving!
Thank you for your review! We're thrilled to hear that you and your 6-year-old grandson had a great time with Santa Claus, the elves, and our staff. It's always heartwarming to know our guests leave with happy memories. However, we apologise for the inconvenience you faced with the parking, especially in the overflow area. Your feedback is invaluable, and we'll be looking into improving the parking facilities to avoid such situations in the future. We hope that next year, with these improvements, your experience will be even better and we can earn that extra star from you. Looking forward to welcoming you back!

    Amazing! Best Christmas experience ever
What amazing characters and fun for all the family. I had a blast as an adult and you got the kids up dancing and excited to join in. The Christmas event was more then I expected and the kids love their gifts. Loved the special touch of making gingerbreads and my little one loved being able to get close and stroke the animals
Thank you for your great review! We're thrilled to hear that our Christmas event was a hit for both adults and kids, and that everyone enjoyed the dancing, gifts, gingerbread making, and animal interactions. We're so glad to have created a memorable experience for your family and look forward to seeing you again!

Magical, high quality visit to Father Christmas at Mead Open Farm
We went on a cold rainy day for the Christmas event and we all loved it! Everywhere was beautifully decorated with great attention to detail and quality decorations and costumes and the actors playing the characters were so professional. Father Christmas was wonderful and you could see in my son's eyes how magical it was. The gifts and the cuddlies were really good quality and there was plenty of choice. All the staff were friendly and seemed happy to be there. They manage the queues really well so we never had to wait long and there was usually a happy elf to keep them entertained while we waiting. The food in the restaurant was good value and quality and the soft play is really good. We spent six hours there, there was so much to do, even without the animal petting or high ropes being open. So much thought, effort and money has gone into the Christmas event, we'd really recommend it.
Thank you for sharing your experience at our Christmas event! We're delighted to know that despite the cold and rain, your visit was filled with magic and joy. It's heartwarming to hear how much your son enjoyed meeting Father Christmas and that the decorations, costumes, and actors added to the festive atmosphere. We're glad you found the gifts and toys of high quality and that our staff made your experience even more enjoyable. It's great to hear that our queue management and entertainment kept your wait times short and enjoyable. We appreciate your kind words about our restaurant and soft play area. Your recommendation is truly valued, and we're thrilled you spent a memorable six hours with us. Looking forward to welcoming you back for more magical moments!

    Christmas outing with the family
Visited with the family yesterday for the Christmas event. It was absolutely wonderful!! The adults enjoyed it as much as the grandchildren did. They loved it all especially Santa, Build a bear and getting to choose your own good quality gift. The place looked beautiful with so many Christmas trees and lights. The whole experience was very organised and professional and I would definitely recommend a visit here.
Thank you for your kind review of our Christmas event! We're thrilled to hear that your entire family, from the adults to the grandchildren, had a wonderful time. It's great to know that Santa, Build a Bear, and our gift selection were hits. We appreciate your compliments on our festive decorations and organisation. Your recommendation means a lot to us, and we hope to welcome you back again soon!

    Christmas Event 2023
Our first visit to the Christmas event. Last year we visited Lapland - MOF Santa was so much better and authentic. Time was not limited to a quick photo. Loved how the interaction was as a group then each family separately. All of the additional activities were thoroughly enjoyed by all 3 of my boys (11/8/5) - they really enjoyed the magical forest! All adults enjoyed as much as the children! Booked on recommendations and will definitely recommend to others and book again in the future! My boys love their Christmas huskies they got to make themselves. Mead Open Farm excels at these events! Thankyou
Dear Guest, We are delighted to hear that your first visit to the Christmas event at Mead Open Farm was such a success! The fact that you appreciated the group interaction followed by individual family time with Santa is wonderful feedback for us. We aim to create a personal and memorable experience for each visitor. Hearing that all three of your boys, aged 11, 8, and 5, thoroughly enjoyed the additional activities, especially the magical forest, is exactly the kind of experience we strive to provide. It's equally rewarding to know that the adults had just as much fun! We're thrilled that your visit was based on recommendations and that you now feel inspired to recommend us to others. Your plans to return in the future are the highest compliment we could receive. Thank you for acknowledging the effort we put into these events, and we're so glad your boys loved making their Christmas huskies. We look forward to welcoming you back for another magical experience! Best Wishes,

We have been coming to the mead open farm for 8 years and we have a family membership.
I remember the farm being a great place witch you felt safe and sound and well taken care off.
The farm is not a cheap place for food and drink that’s very basic offering ,but we can live with that because the children have so much fun.
We have noticed a change a big change in our humble opinion.
Our children have not enjoyed the last 3 visits and therefore we will not return again and will not renewing membership or recommend the farm in a positive way.
Bigger older children are out of control in regards to the younger smaller children being picked on, pushed over.
Now when we have confronted these older children they are sooo rude to the mothers telling them F off and so on!
Our children have left crying and upset their so called happy afternoon has been spoiled by travelers children.
When we have called to speak to management to advise what’s been happening and what’s going wrong with customers care, we are told not much they can do in regards to whom comes in Mead open farm. We understand that to a point! So when I Advise the farm should check the CCTV cameras , sorry no camera in that part of the play era.
I have to say a lot of parents we have spoken to about the farm and issues ,they have had similar problems and customers service is poor.
Shame we used like this place, it’s become a rundown dive with not much care for the long term members.
This used to be a decent place with decent customers .Now it’s rude travelers children play ground and that’s not for my children.

Went for the Santa roof top ramble and elf academy. One scheduled in for 4pm and the other for 5.30. Both were pantomime type shows which was not clear from the descriptions. Each session lasted for 15 minutes. Problem was after the elf academy had finished and we were outside at 4.20 we had a problem how to spend the next hour or so. Most of the activities are outside and were wet as it was drizzling.

Saw the goats and the ponies but Mead isn't really about animals it's more activity focused. That killed 10 minutes.

Luckily we managed to get into the earlier show at 4.30 and see Santa having a 10 minute ramble. Again, not suitable for a 2.5 year old.

Positives were that the santa and the elves were very helpful when taking photographs at the end. Negatives were that the two shows were short and spaced out so far apart for reasons which are not clear.

Bear in mind that if it is wet weather then all you have is the indoor play area or the restaurant. Obviously with Covid the numbers in both are restricted.

I do not recommend Mead in poor weather with 2 year old children. Unless you are desperate that is and wish to support a local business. We have been there in good weather and its a different experience completely.

So disappointed with this place, with all the money that has been invested in improving the venue it is very much lacking in good old fashioned hospitality.

We've been visiting since my my son was a toddler, now 16 years old we popped along with his 88 year old grandfather to relive the memories.

Firstly I appreciate that during COVID only bookings online were accepted. However, continuing to do so once restrictions are lifted, alienates the older generation who want to treat their family for the day but are unable to use the internet to do so. I also take great exception to being charged 50p for doing so (I have no choice) and then being thanked on receipt for placing the booking online (of which I also have no choice). Also why are the p.m. sessions not cheaper? I presume you don't turf the a.m. bookings out at 12.30 so they can stay the whole day if they wish?

Whilst I really do not wish to spend my whole morning ranting the main issues were the staff. It took the reception lad a good while to recognise we were standing in front of him as he wanted to finish his conversation with his colleague. As a whole, the staff were stand-offish, unwelcoming, un-engaging and looked thoroughly bored! The only exception were the 2 sheep guys - well done you 2, very funny.

The second moan is the restaurant, who on earth decided to put the ordering till in front of the entrance swing doors, there were blockages of parents with prams crashing into the 3 groups of people crammed in front of the counter. I only wanted 3 takeaway hot drinks, why isn't there a separate counter?

Whilst I appreciate we may not have been the usual Mum/baby group that visits, as mentioned my father is elderly and in the beginnings of memory lost so it was more of a day out for him than us, and unfortunately you've taken your eye of the ball and this family will not be recommending Mead in the future.

Dear Emma A Thank you for your review - we always appreciate when our visitors take the time to let us know about their experiences.  Whilst we are delighted you have enjoyed visiting Mead Open Farm for many years, we are extremely disappointed to hear about your most recent experience and hope to address some of your concerns.  With regards to booking online, this step was taken initially with Covid in mind so that we are able to manage arrival times for entry to the farm and avoid long queues on arrival.  Alongside other visitor attractions who continue to operate in this way,  this system has been positively received by visitors hence the reason for keeping this in place.  The booking fee is in place to cover the associated costs to Mead Open Farm for third party services such as technology and processing fees.  You may be interested to know that on Weekdays during term-time, we do have an After-School price which allows visitors to enter the farm from 3.30pm at a discounted rate.   Feedback regarding all of our staff is usually extremely positive and we are often recommended as being friendly and welcoming, so we are extremely disappointed to read your comments.  We have notified the head of department to discuss your feedback with their team accordingly.   Having separated our Grain Store Kitchen from the main Playbarn, we are continually evolving this area to transition to more of a restaurant-style service whereby orders are taken at the entrance and food and drink is served directly to tables.  We have found that this has significantly reduced both queuing and waiting times for our visitors and again, feedback is usually very positive, so we are sorry to hear that you felt inconvenienced by the set up on the day of your visit.   Again, we would like to re-iterate that we are extremely disappointed to hear that your experience was not as you had expected, as it is very important to us that all visitors have an amazing time at the farm and take away great memories.    We would be really grateful if you could email us at info@meadopenfarm.co.uk for the attention of our Operations Manager, so that we may look into this further and assist you.   Many Thanks, Mead Open Farm

We had a nice trip here although it seemed very very crowded. The sky trail and rock wall we’re open and lots of fun. Crazy golf was very packed but animals, particularly lambs looked lots less cramped. If you like tons of people in a fairly small inside area then here is where you want to come. Inside the barn with all the soft play you can only eat food ordered that is really quite expensive, or you could go and sit in the picnic barn which is ALWAYS completely full. And cold as well.

I have visited odds Farm on numerous occasions and in my opinion was the best farm I had visited until I decided to Mead Open fram. They had an offer on where children go for in January. In total I paid £23.90 for 2 paying adults and 2 children (free). The farm is big with lots of animals... They have multiple play areas outdoor including, a large park, sandpit area, somewhere for the kids to bounce, Crazy golf at no extra cost, a climbing wall and high climbing frame.. The climbing wall, and climbing frame were not open and are due to open half term. It has a very large indoor play centre too. My kids loved feeding the animals in particular bottle feeding the lambs. I went midday Sunday and spent 4 hours there. Could have easily spent a bit longer. It was lovely weather and not too busy. I would say you get more for your money here than you do at odds Farm. Would defo recommend it.

The venue is doing all they can during these tough times.

The staff are working hard to maintain social distancing and keeping control on numbers. This does mean a bit of queuing for indoor play and restaurant however the staff are amazing.

Sadly no social distancing when queuing but that’s down to people not the venue.

Food was priced ok and large quantities (£5 for child meal) however taking a picnic would help keep costs down.

Lots to do for children of all ages.

Indoor play area is now open so my daughter had a great time

Not what I imagined from the reviews. For the price, very limited number of animals. Tractor ride was cancelled although still charged... no discount on entrance fee.
Indoor eating area is a joke. I bought 4 hot plates of food and absolutely zero change of finding a seat to sit.... now, yes it’s other visitors who creates the problem by leaving coats on seats to reserve plus you could clearly see people eating their own food which was clearly informed wasn’t allowed. My issue with Mead is when I informed a member of staff 30 mins after started a seat search while still holding a tray of purchased food, I was told “nothing to do with them”... yeah happy to take my money first though.
Will never be going back. £50+ entrance and £14 food wasted.

Hi, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We’re extremely sorry to hear your feedback as it is very important to us that all our visitors have an enjoyable day out with us. We’re disappointed to hear you felt there were a limited number of animals for the price, we work had to provide good value for money and we always offer an online discount. It is very important to us that we have lots of furry friends for you to meet during your visit including alpacas, pygmy goats, cows, sheep, rabbits, ponies and piglets. We also have lots of animal activities for you to enjoy including stroking bunnies in the Bunny Hop, Bottle Feeding older Lambs, Grooming Ponies and learning all about our chickens in The Chicken Chat. We will pass on your feedback to our team here as we're always looking to improve our services. We’re also sorry for the confusion with regards to The Tractor Ride. Due to weather conditions, our Tractor Ride runs every year from April to September. We do have a timetable of our current activities on our website, which are all included in your ticket price. We will pass on your feedback and we’re sorry for any disappointment caused. We’re saddened to hear about your experience in our GrainStore Kitchen, at peak times it can get very busy. We have recently extended our Café, adding extra seating and we also have an overflow eating area upstairs. We’re sorry that you were not aware of this additional seating and we will pass this feedback onto our team here. If you contact info@meadopenfarm.co.uk the general manager will discuss this further with you. We have lots of exciting events coming up including our Easter Wizard of Oz experience this Easter Holidays and we do hope you will give us another try again soon. Many thanks, Mead Open Farm

Since deciding not to renew my annual membership two years ago, as Mead had simply pushed their prices North of reasonable, I took advantage of a buy an adult, child free promotion for January.
True to their greedy ways, Mead levy a 50p booking fee for each online ticket, even those that are free! An easy way for them to make money before you even arrive.
Upon arrival, nothing much has changed. Some of the few attractions are closed, noably the outdoor activities. After riding the broken go-karts, it appeared the only investment made, is to partition off the expensive 'canteen' from the playbarn. This was probably done to ensure that all who occupied those tables, dined on their expensive food. We sat in the playbarn and ate our own food as most people did, which was not possible whilst the canteen was part of it, a back-fire for Mead. Cleanliness is lacking in any dining area..tables left uncleared, with no visible cleaning staff.
My main gripe is with their pricing. Two adults and two children membership for 12 months is currently an eye-watering £370! Was reasonable value when I joined a few years ago, but the have since grabbed every penny they can. Why are adults (chaperones) still more expensive than children? Will not bother with Meadagain. They would do well to perform a bit of park maintainance during the quieter Winter months, such as weatherproof picnic tables, that are all left to rot. Would not recommend.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We are sorry to hear your comments regarding our price. Whilst our January offer meant that our child ticket was free with the adult ticket, we still do need to charge a booking fee of 50p to cover the costs to us for third party services such as technology and fees associated with processing bookings. We do feel that we are able to offer a good value, full day out for the whole family, especially Members, with most events and extra activities included in their passes. We are always listening to what our visitors want in order to reinvest back into the farm, such as with the addition of our huge Veggie Washer indoor play area in recent years. So much team work and planning also goes into building on our events programme every year with new shows activities and walkthroughs included in our events, to ensure a really memorable and exciting day out for everyone. It is disappointing that you were surprised to find a few of the attractions were not open. Most of our outdoor play areas remain open throughout the year, however as the safety of our visitors is our first priority, we do need to keep some activities closed in the Winter months as they may be dangerous or slippery when wet or in inclement weather and our admission price reflects this. We do state which activities are open on our website, so we are disappointed that this was not clear to you ahead of your visit. Our team do their utmost to ensure that our eating and seating areas remain as clean and tidy as possible, however if something is missed, we would encourage visitors to come forward and let a member of staff know during their visit, so that the problem can be addressed as soon as possible. We do have an allocated picnic area within the playbarn that our guests are welcome to use to enjoy their food from home, we are sorry this was not made clear to you. To see all of our allocated picnic areas, we recommend having a look at our map, downloading our app or asking a member of staff for help. We would like to reassure you that our cleaning measures are robust and our staff follow a cleaning schedule as well as regularly checking areas for cleanliness between cleaning times. We also still have extra measures in place including more frequent cleaning and sanitation of all areas. Thank you once again for taking the time to leave your feedback.

Over the years we have often taken our grandchildren to Mead Open Farm and had a great time. So, as it is half term, we decided to take our 8 year old granddaughter. Today, 14th February. What a disappointment. When we arrived there was only ONE PERSON dealing with both the pre-booked and pay now customers, resulting in a long queue. The farm looks tired and uncared for. Considering it was half term I would have expected better. The sky trail and climbing rock face were both closed, no tractor rides, only one of the bouncy pillows was working and time was limited on that. The outside benches and tables looked like they were going to break if you sat on them and they looked dirty. We bought feed for the animals, but they weren’t interested, in fact they looked bored stiff and miserable. We tipped the lot into the pig pen…I hope they enjoyed it. The food in the soft play area was mega expensive and the poor young lady who was trying to deal with so many people looked so stressed, but she served everyone with a smile…..she deserves a medal! There was nowhere near enough seating and people had also left their coats etc on tables but they weren’t there. There were not enough toilets to accommodate the vast number of people that were there. The bins everywhere were full to overflowing, and in more that two of the hand washing stations the water wasn’t running. I booked online and the website informed me that there were over 1400 more places that could have been booked today….thank goodness they didn’t book them.
We paid £50 for my granddaughter to stroke a few rabbits, look at goats and sheep laying down or standing with heads bowed and looking miserable, and play on the indoor play area…which was packed! All in all a very overpriced and neglected farm…so very disappointing considering how good it used to be. Mead Farm you need to upgrade your premises, and employ more staff…….. as it is we won’t be visiting again! I cannot believe how much it has gone downhill since we came last year.

Dear Guilliana, Thank you for taking the time to leave your review about your recent visit with your granddaughter. During school holidays, we can be busier than usual, however to address this on the day of your visit during half term we put extra measures in place to reduce queue times, including opening both the shop and 2 lanes for guests to use.   We are disappointed to hear your thoughts regarding the appearance of the farm as our team take great care to ensure everything looks presentable. For example, we closed for several days at the beginning of February to complete a series of improvements to our indoor areas and soft play and we are continuing to identify other areas to work on.  Some of our attractions are seasonal and weather dependent and this is clearly stated on our website, so we are sorry to hear that this was not your expectation. We do adjust our admission price depending on the season, to reflect what is available and so that we can offer value for money throughout the year.   Unfortunately, we have experienced a serious fault with the main pillow and for the safety and enjoyment of our visitors we have instead introduced under 5 and over 5 timed sessions on one pillow. Once again this is stated on the website, so we are sorry if you were not clear about this.  Regarding your comments about our restaurant, we have designed our menu to include a variety of snacks and meals to suit all tastes and budgets, whilst using quality ingredients, so it is disappointing that you felt prices were higher than expected.   As with most restaurants, we do experience peak periods where footfall is higher, however we are well equipped to manage this, for example with our food ordering system, an additional toilet block on site and the provision of seating in the indoor play area and picnic areas to ease congestion in the main restaurant. Thank you for the feedback regarding the professionalism of our staff member, we will ensure that this is passed on to her.  As well as the opportunity to meet the animals and explore the indoor play as you did, visitors can enjoy a full day out as we also currently have our Lambing is Back event on for February Half Term with live lambing happening in the Lamb Nursery, whilst we also have daily animal activities to join in with including Pony Grooming and Bunny Hop, outdoor adventure play including Topsy Turvey Towers, Go-Karts, our Jumping Pillow, Digger Village, Shaggy’s Cove Sand & Water Play and Crazy Golf.   Thank you once again for taking the time to leave your review, we will pass on your feedback to our team.  Many thanks,  Mead Open Farm
