This 18 century fort is a huge ruin, with tunnel access only, free, you need a torch, and good shoes, set i. woods on a hill. It is very atmospheric, possibly dangerous holes between levels ans with WW2 additions to fortify some areas. You wont be alone in the summer. Theres a cafe about 1km away in the village. Take a taxi there frm Dubno.

Very impressive old military fort now in ruins.. very easy to get to in a dry day - about 10 minutes walk from the Google-mapped parking spot

I spent a month in Dubno, and some local friends took us here. The first time, we just visited. It's a cool place, back off the road a bit. You can climb and adventure around inside, and it's just a neat place to visit. A few days later we went back and played capture the flag with Airsoft guns, it was a blast! Recommend coming here for sure!

+ Good place to visit in case you are searching for adventures
-Without guide can be risky as it was military base in the past - there are a lot of hidden traps.

An interesting ruined fort from the times of Imperial Russia, Tarakaniv is today almost completely hidden by trees. Once inside, though, there are rooms and passages to discover. Take a head torch and try to get there early before the visitor groups do so you can soak up the atmosphere.

This abandoned fortress is not on any itineraries for traveling through Ukraine on the internet. We were passing through Dubno when we heard of it and decided to pay a visit. There is no ticket office, parking lot or staff. Entrance is via a path through the woods and through dark tunnels.

As far as abandoned places go, this one is quite amazing. The architecture of what's left of the ruins is pretty spectacular, considering there is little to no maintenance work done for this place. The locals visit this place to chill out and have parties. A group of them were having a BBQ and drinking beer on the second floor of one of the ruined buildings when we were there.

There's actually alot to see, plenty of rooms, staircases, tunnels, alleys, etc. Those who love adventure or are into abandoned places will enjoy visiting Tarakaniv Fort. All in ruins so bring a good pair of shoes as the ground may be dangerous to walk on due to broken materials.

The fort is quite a surprise. It is not easy to access and is rather well hidden since from the outside you can only see a small forest.

The magic happens when you pass through the tunnel of the main gate and discover the fort enclosure.

It is dilapidated and can be dangerous (falling stones, holes, unstable ground, etc.) but that is also what makes it charming. Inside it feels like a movie.

!!!
An important point for spring and summer: wear long sleeves. There are a lot of toxic plants growing there. There is a warning sign at the entrance (in Ukrainian and English). Do not touch the plants as this may cause itching and burning.
