Whilst on the "Piedra Rojas, Lagunas Altiplanicas y Salar" day trip, we passed through this town and had lunch there.
There is an interesting old church and tower, the village square and local shops.
The town is 38 km from San Pedro de Atacama and at an altitude of 2,485 metres. The church tower was built in 1750. Locals here are involved in mining, fruit growing and craft work.
Worth visiting if you have an interest in archaeology, or if you are simply passing through.
