We had a really wonderful visit. Our guide Tamari was very friendly and informative and we learned a lot from her about Georgian wines, wine making, and its history. All of their wines were really good but I have to say that the Zigu wine made from a mixture of 500 grape varietals was absolutely incredible. Their place is really a combination wine museum and winery so I highly recommend this as part of any Georgian itinerary.

We were staying at the Radisson on the Tsinandali Estate and the Shumi winery was a short 10 min walk or quick drive from the hotel. We did a tour and also went back for lunch and wine the next day - definitely one to mark for a visit when you’re in the wine region. Our tour guide Gigi was fantastic, he shared so much interesting knowledge about the history of wine in Georgia, along with how Georgian wines are made. The wine is also delicious - we loved the Georgian style ones most as they’re very dry. Definitely try the Separavi, Kisi and Khikwi wines. For lunch, I’d recommend anything on the bbq, we had chicken and vegetables, with a Georgian salad to start.
The winery itself is beautiful and has a bunch of areas to sit nestled among the grapes or closer to the restaurant. It’s a really pretty setting, with tons of greenery and flowers and makes a great place to spend an afternoon or evening. We’ll be back for sure!

Shumi Winery has amazing views and the best wines.
When we arrived in Shumi our personal guide Lasha was waiting for us, he guide us through the museum and showed us a cellar, where he explained the differences between traditional and classic technologies. He clearly loved his job and was explaining so passionately about his favorite wines, so we decide to taste Khikhvi, which was included in the tasting package and we also bought the first sparkling wine made in kvevri that Shumi has and we both agreed that Khikhvi was the best amber wine we've ever had and sparkling wine one of the best. We also wanted to take the first bio-dynamic wine with us, but unfortunately, we didn't have enough space to take it.
We really enjoyed the place, we both agreed that Shumi has one of the best wines in Georgia and the smiling face of our tour guide was the highlight of our day!

Lovely location, spread-out restaurant seating makes it near impossible to service and you are constantly trying to get the servers attention. BBQ pork was pink; we (physically as no waiter) returned it to kitchen asking just to cook a little more who then promptly took another 35mins to cook another one without telling us. Badly handled by waiter and manager and in the end, the waiter and mgr abandoned us and the young cashier was sent to resolve the issue and remove the BBQ pork from the bill. Close to two hours, awful, sensed there was a dispute with the kitchen

As we stepped out of the taxi a personal guide was waiting to meet us.
Lasha was very welcoming and talked about Shumi’ history as we walked through the beautiful gardens towards the cellars.
A mini museum positioned the age of Georgian wines and its importance in the country. We then saw how both traditional and modern processes are used here.
Finally, the best bit, a chance to sample the wines. On our package we had 4 wines to sample. All five of us agreed on our favourite, the traditional Saparavi.
With more time we would have eaten here, we saw some lovely looking grilled meats coming off the BBQ. And Maria and Nini were also welcoming and friendly.
This is a very professionally run establishment and would definitely recommend it.

This is very nice place. We had no reservation and were offered a free tour in English straight away. Our tour guide Lasha was very friendly and professional man, he showed us winery and explaned everything about winemaking (including European and Georgian styles). After the short tour we offered to participate in wine tasting (different packages available together with snacks), so we shared different wines together with my familiy.

Took a tour of the winery and museum with a guide who spoke English. The tour was free and very informative. Our guide covered the history of winemaking in Georgia and the process of how wine and chacha are made. Unfortunately, I was driving so I did not do the wine tasting, however I made sure to buy a bottle of their award winning Saperavi wine which is amazing. Highly recommend anyone to visit this friendly and beautiful winery.

As we arrived at the Shumi, Tamari approached and welcomed us right away. She took us for the tour which is free of charge. She explained history and wine making process. The scenery is beautiful. Wine tasting is reasonable price with snacks. Obviously the wine is goooooooooood. We saw the shoti bread making process. We would love to come back again during harvest time!!

We recently visited the Shumi Winery and had an excellent and very informative tour of the facility.
Our guide was a young man called Lasha who was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. He was enthusiastic and clearly loved his job.
Definitely worth a visit!

A fantastic find on the drive from Telavi to Vazisubani. Shumi winery is stunningly beautiful and well worth the stop! Ask for Lasha as your tour guide. We learned everything about the history of Georgian wine making and he took the time to answer all of our questions. He also led us through a delicious wine tasting in their beautiful garden. 5-star location and 5-star service from Lasha! We left with three bottles of wine to take home. :-)
