I really liked this attraction. With toddler we skipped the first part and only had a walk in the gardens, but there are couple of them so it takes times, before you see them all. I liked the free parking, the prices were good as well - you can only pay with the special coins that you exchange there. I will surely come back to have a nice walk. Outside there is also a ship with their own cosmetics etc.

Beautiful mediaeval village, Lots of things for adults and kids to do in the craft centre, from pottery, rope-works, candle making, printing press and many more activities. Well organised and easy to navigate place, the staff are really kind and helpful, most speak some English. Highly recommended it.

Really nice garden complex with activity for kids in open Craft center where they can do the following activity:

I would recommend age 5+ for most of the activities. Kids return to the history and can try traditional the Middle Age craft: pottery - they can create own plate, cup, candlestick you need to reserve approx. 30 -40 minutes here and then count with the fact that the product needs some time for drying before you take it home, soap making - it does not take too long and it's quite easy. You can also produce your own candle - it takes also approx. 25 minutes to finish it, but kids can start and then make a break, leave the part they already did with name and return later. They can try weaving, paper production that is really interesting, cleavage, blacksmith craft or gold mining. First you can go around all the crafts and see which one you choose to try.

Later the kids can see in the garden complex sheep and other animals.

The craft village in Ostra is really amazing. It is a great fun kids. It is open from April till October.

It takes you approx 45 minutes to get there from Prague by car but you can go there by train too.

Do not forget to try pancakes with home made jam.

At the entrance, when you pay for the tickets, you can exchange Czech Crowns into local Ostra craft village grosh which you can use later in Craft centers.

Parking is free of charge.

On the surface - great idea, but it is not for the only english speaking tourist. Almost all the staff does not know english. The manufacturing is also a disappointment. For example the soap - you get a peace of soap and make in to a ball - thats it!
We also had a performance - two actors doing slapstick in Czech. The youngsters had some enjoyment...

Botanicus in Ostrá is a very pleasant journey to history and how the medieval people lived. You can try various manufacturings, walk through nice-smelling gardens and if you go there during summer weekends, also experience some program for children.
Parking is close to Botanicus and for free.
From downtown Prague, the journey takes roughly 50 minutes, but very worthy.

I am living close by the Botanicus in Ostra, and I visit the place already many times. Mostly with my daughter. For little kids it is very exciting place and I can fully recommend the place. Staff is friendly and kids can try their skills in creating own herb soaps, candles etc... If you want to entertaing kids in summer days, definitelly this is always good choice...

We have been there with 16 years old boy and three years old girl and both found nice entertainment. We were disadvantaged by heavy rain during our stay, so we shortened it to 2 hours only, but you can enjoy longer time during nice weather, especially walking or sitting in beautiful garden. You can eat there as well trying good traditional sweet pastry, pies or other Czech specialities.

The tourists are usually familiar with Botanicus through their various 'natural cosmetics' stores in Prague, where you can buy anything from soap made out of fruits and berries to shampoos and conditioners that make your hair look gourgeous. But here in Czech Republic people know Botanicus for their famous Village of Crafts, located in Ostra just 40 min away from Prague by train.
The village and the organic gardens center in Ostra is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 25th April until 4th October 2015, and it is going to be an experience your kids will never forget. For just a few CZK (actually Botanicus has their own currenty - Groshi, that you can buy upon entrance) they will spend the day making their own soap, candles, paper, ropes, etc., learn how to shoot a bow and, well, just familiarize themselves with the ways people lived and worked a long time ago.
If you're out here in the summer, and the weather is good - take your swimming suites because the lake in Ostra, just a minute away from Botanicus gardens is a great place for a swim.

Our 6-year's daughter was pleased. The most interesting was soap manufacturing, also paper and gold producing aren't bad. Archery could be interesting for adults too.
