My daughter and I had a lovely walk through Fforest Fawr this morning. We followed the sculpture trail which was fun and found some beautiful sculptures and views along the way. We also discovered three bears caves would recommend lots of room for kids to play. Just get there early as the car park gets full very quickly

A lot of beech trees, some work on a gas pipeline which didn't detract, good open paths, lots of people, lots of dogs. Lots of dog poo bags wherever you walk, highlighting owners stupidity. Good cafe,
if your heart doesn't give out on the way back to the car park

A most beautiful tranquil walk through the wood to the Castle. Not suitable for seniors with health issues as we were most disappointed there was now where to sit along the rout. Once at the castle again sad to find not a seat in sight. The site was void of any maps or information as to the trails. Come on Cardiff you can do better.

NRW - this is for you! (As well as those that leave the offending items). Yesterday I visited for the first time in 2.5 years. Still a great place to walk (yourselves and your pets) and take in the views etc. Sadly though, it has been spoiled by the awful and numerous bags of dog muck left lying and dangling due, I suppose, to an ill considered change in policy by NRW. Previously the forestry commission ran a’stick and flick’ policy where dog owners were requested to flick their dogs deposits off the path. Nature would then, quite quickly, dispose of it. For decades I walked/ran my dogs there and seldom encountered a missed deposit - surely this has to be a better option than the conditions I encountered yesterday.

If you like treading in dog doo, this is the place for you... Everywhere you wander, you may have to ponder, will I get mess on my shoe, it's not up to you... It's those that purposely leave their dogs poo, not me or you...

We read positive reviews online prior to our visit to the fforest fawr sculpture trail on St. David's day. We were going with a two year old and a four year old, both who enjoyed walking along spotting the various different animal sculptures. It's a nice walk through the woods but dissapointingly has a serious dog mess problem. There were tens of black dog poo bags scattered throughout the woods, along and beside the paths and amongst the foliage. There was also a large pile of dog mess (unbagged) infront of one of the sculptures which was particularly unpleasant when wanting to stand by and take a picture of the kids infront of it. I'm not sure what the issue is, whether or not it's dog walkers attempting to make a protest against lack of bins or what but there seems to be a serious issue with dog mess. It's disappointing as it really detracts from a pleasant walk.

Nice walk through the forest for all ages and fitness levels. An abundance of trails, the kids favourite being the gruffalo trail with intrinsic sculptures hidden throughout the forest.

We found this after searching the Taff Trail to get to Castle Coch it was a beautiful walk through the Forrest lots of different tracks to make this walk as long or as short as you like. The sculptures along the track were brilliant so well done each had a plaque on them with a few words on each. We sat on a bench for a while just taking in the breath taking views around. We also managed to find the old mining caves too. What a great walk a lovely way to spend the afternoon.

We actually walked and drove In The area on consecutive days. Once to visit the castle and then the ranch. Forest has its own car parks, trails and sculptures to look out for so worth a visit if you like walking. Not suitable for buggies.
