Top class shop.
Nov 2021
Haven’t been here for a while, so happy to find that it is still a top class venue. Our main interest on this visit was the food hall and it really is superbly well stocked with a wide variety of interesting and good quality goods. The butcher’s section is particularly impressive with a wide range of top quality meat.

I have noticed a few negative comments re how busy the place gets, and there is no doubt that its success has resulted in a very large customer base. As everybody comes by car however, it’s easy to gauge how busy it is by looking at the car park, and if it’s chocka on the outside, it’s going to be the same inside.
Simples!

Interesting animals
Oct 2021 • Family
It’s great to give children the opportunity to see some rare animals and here you can get close enough to camels, ostriches, llamas and even sheep.
Plenty of car parking but the place gets very busy. Expect a long wait for food.
But enjoy the animals!

A farm shop where dogs are not welcome
Oct 2021 • Family
The irony of a farm shop that does not allow dogs. As a farmer’s daughter I feel you have lost your way in the pursuit of commercialism. Animals are at the heart of every farm

Overpriced filled rolls.
Sep 2021
As regular users of Mainsgill facilities over many years we have witnessed its growth and how popular a place it has now become. They cannot seem to overcome the queues that develop for the restaurant which spoils a visit. On our most recent stop the queue discouraged us from having a seated meal so we bought a couple of filled rolls and takeaway coffees. We were astounded by the price of the rolls at £4.25p each which is ridiculous. As we sat and eat them we overhead a conversation between other people who were doing the same and they were making similar comments. Not impressed I’m afraid.

Love the animals
Aug 2021 • Couples
Beautiful setting and love the animals. Zed the llama particularly liked my husband and came over for pets and licks! The spotty sheep loved him too, enjoying pets. Really unusual to see camels and an ostrich in the farm too! Great afternoon out!

Unusual animals
Aug 2021
The children loved to see the camels, emus, llamas as well as traditional animals here. Also visited the massive shop which had lots of local produce in. The food in the cafe was good but the queue was long.

Great farm experience with food to match
Jul 2021
We stopped here on our way to Suffolk. Lovely to find such a well stocked farm shop together with a great selection of food to choose from. We were there just for a quick snack for lunch. Staff are well inducted, pleasant and the service was smooth and quick. This is a stopping off point whether you are couples or families. There is a children's play area together with the animals for children to get up close to. Camels, Alpacas, donkeys plus others. We had a lovely time.

Mainsgill Covid-style
Jul 2021
We visited Mainsgill twice in 3 days for a cooked breakfast - both times excellent although the tea seemed better the second time around, when the weather was good enough for families to use the outdoor facilities - the play area which seemed larger this time around and the marquee. The retail space has more than doubled although some of the prices are more than what you would pay as a supermarket, e.g. bread and eggs were at least 50p more. The cafe staff had a unique way of maintaing Covid, marking tables with a traffic cone before sanitising them after use, plus there was a barrier for customers to wait their turn. Then everything was ordered and paid for prior to being given a table letter. I recommend the Farmhouse breakfast with a couple of extra bits if you wish for an extra charge.

Disappointing.

Change the name. Not a farm shop. More like Fortnum and Masons.
Extremely busy.
Probably a nice stop at different time of year.
Toilets were immaculate.
