Great gym
Jul 2019 • Friends
I’ve been a member for a few months now and I would highly recommend the gym. I have yet to use the pool however it is always open and not too busy. The gym is clean and a decent size. Whenever I have spoken to a member of staff they have always been friendly and helpful.

Leisure centre

Great leisure centre with a wide variety of classes but the busier classes do get booked up very quickly. Small cafe area with a good selection of food being available.

Very poor customer care services. Staff are rude, inconsiderate and impolite. Only two employees out of 56 are reasonably helpful and friendly(Amy and Scott). Chris [–], the manager, is not interested in wellbeing of centre users, he is dishonest and lazy manager. He would not disclose the names of staff who were ill mannered on the phone to the customers and was not prepared to apologise for the rudeness of his staff. The whole attitude of the centre is discriminative, arrogant and racist.

After the sad demise of the late great Afan Lido this is a decent replacement even though it doesn’t have the range of sporting offerings or yet have the character. Nice building, pool is good and swimming lessons are great, very well run. I use the gym which is not huge but is well equipped with good staff and up to date equipment, recommended. Only downside is you need your own lock for lockers

Got a good telling off for moving a table in the cafe - ouch!
Jan 2019 • Friends
I stopped off at the centre’s cafe for refreshments with a few other “mature” cyclists on 11th January 2019 and had a well priced meal deal (£3.20 for coffee and bacon roll).
The centre was clean and quite busy and it’s facilities were more than adequate.
The rolls were prepared in a kitchen behind the counter and a woman served them to us before loudly telling us she was sure she’d told us before not to move the tables.
Needless to say none of us knew what she was talking about and felt quite embarrassed by the outburst as other customers heard her utterances.
I know I live in the heart of Wales and am proud of my heritage but I thought dragons were just a myth!
Sorry but I can’t give more than three stars because of the customer service.

Great place just don’t order a coffee
Aug 2018 • Family
I don’t normally take my children swimming in Port Talbot because the pool in Swansea leisure centre has more activity for them but being a little short on time this Sunday my wife and I decided to head to the Afan Lido. I personally like the place the gym is excellent and the pool is great if you just want to practice your swimming. The receptionists we lovely and the changing rooms are clean same goes for poolside. When we were leaving my wife suggested we have a coffee and a bite to eat as it was around dinner time and everywhere else would be busy. I’m sorry I did. The lady behind the counter had a face like a smacked bum. There was no please or thanks when she took my money and unceremoniously dumped our cups on the table with enough force to spill it everywhere. I’m surprised the cups didn’t smash. Again not a sorry or an offer to refill the cups again. When I checked my change I was informed that “it’s right” in a very stern and cold manner. I didn’t order any food because it’s prepared out of site and I don’t think I’d like this horrible woman anywhere near my food. All in all lovely place just stay away from “The Palace” as it’s called

Although the pool is quite small , is very good. The swimming lessons for my 9 year old are brilliant, well structured and run. The gymnastics class is also good, the gym facilities are great only down side is not enough parking

Good equipment

Great gym. The only negative is the volume of the music played in the gym. Far too loud. People can listen to their own choice of music with personal headphones... So why is it so loud sometimes?

Rude staff
Jun 2018 • Family
Called twice in row and on both occasions the pools wete closed.
I'd checked online for opening times and there was no notice there, both times the rude girls on reception just responded with 'it's on facebook' and then smirked when I said I didn't use Facebook.
The place is generally quite grubby.
The play area doesn't have a secure door so kids can literally run out of soft play onto a car park!! I have HUGE safety concerns and would never let my daughter play in there.
