Definitely worth visiting!

a very interesting place, for al Anton Chekhov admirers. Book excursion, it is very inexpensive: we paid something around 120 Hrivnas (4 Euro) for more than 1 hour and it was amazing.

Hidden Treasure of Literary Tourism

I came here to research my novel and fell in love with the place, the surroundings, the warm welcome I was given. Knowledge of Russian or an interpreter is a must to get the most out of the history of Chekhov's time here. Don't miss a walk down to the river. Enchanting, if somewhat melancholy, but that's part of the charm.

Interesting Chekov artifacts.
Jun 2015
I walked to the Chekov House Museum in July, 2014, after stopping for a kvass break (it was a warm day). My Russian is minimal so I did not get a lot from the explanations the guide was giving but I very much enjoyed seeing the various artifacts related to Chekov. Afterword, I walked to the Psel River nearby (to the north) which Chekov spent time on and around and writes about in letters. I very much enjoyed my visit here but non-Russian speakers may wish to hire an interpreter because whoever is acting as guide is not likely to speak other than Ukrainian or Russian.

Summer home of famous playwright
Dec 2015 • Couples
Anton Chekhov's summer home in Sumy, Ukraine is a very interesting museum. It's located in a rather quiet section of the city. Even though he is known as a Russian playwright, Chekhov spent a great deal of time in Ukraine and may actually have strong Ukrainian roots. Along with the city's history museum in the city center (which was the city's Communist Party headquarters during the USSR), it is certainly worth seeing.
