It might because we visit in a rainy day, the whole complex looks so beautiful!

Shanxi Guild Hall was technically not part of the original temple but has since been incorporated into the complex. The Shanxi Guild was founded in 1724 during the Qing Dynasty and still contains a well-preserved gate, theatre stage, audience tower, bell and drum tower, memorial archway, wing rooms, and hall. The guild was used by traveling merchants from Shanxi province to help them network with one another, as well as making them feel more at home in this far-flung city.

Nothing spectacular, really. There's an opera theatre in there. Wooden architecture is nice. Good for a few moments of peace and quiet.

It was like many other temples but it seemed that it might have a show or something on I just wasn't there at the right time

I came across this on the way to the Giant Buddha Temple and enjoyed it as much as the latter. The woodwork is beautiful, making it well worth a quick visit. Since this building is behind the temple, it's easy to do both in half a day.

We visited this Guild Hall when we were viewing the site of the Great Buddha Temple. It was built in 1724 and is a complete Qing Dynasty building complex consisting of a theatrical stage, audience tower, bell and drum tower, memorial archway, wing rooms and hall. Business men would gather here to discuss and carry out commercial undertakings.

It is a very impressive historical site, and is well worth a visit.
