Lots of artisans working in here, crafting the stunning stone artworks you can admire at the Qingtian Shidiao Museum. It's a 20 minutes bus ride from Qingtian, but taxi is also very cheap in this region. No one speaks English, but we found an artisan willing to show us his workshop, not far away and with 5 young apprentices working on some beautiful stone sculptures. We end up buying a stone stamp with our name in it for around 150 Yuan.

Not fair to consider this place a tourist attraction. It is a working town.

Located about 30 minutes away from Qingtian. You can get to this location by taking a public bus from the Qingtian Long Distance bus terminal. It will cost you 3.5 RMB one way.

This town is a meeting place for stone carvers. Each artisan has their own little manufacturing factory. They also have little stores to sell their stone carvings and chops.

There is no tour guides, no one speaks English, it is dusty and noisy. Each store will try to sell you their chops, carvings or idols. No clean washrooms and the restaurants nearby does not seem to have any sanitary standards.

As of 2014, the government is forcing all stone carving manufacturing to be moved outside the town. Only the shops will remain inside the town.

If you are interesting in purchasing something, make sure you bring someone who is knowledgeable or you will be ripped off. Preferably someone who speaks the native dialect (Wenzhou hua)

Most of the stores are wholesalers, selling blank chops to other parts of China. On the weekends, they have a flea market where sellers will come and sell their stone. (not carvings but the raw material)

If you appreciate stone carving, this is the place to come.

If you have no interests in stone carvings, then don't even think about coming here.
