This was an odd little museum that is good to visit when you are in sondrio. The explanations in English were limited— there was an audio guide, but not a ton of places where there are audio options. Still, it was fun to go in and look around.

A somewhat sketchy history of the Valtellinese, but more oriented for locals interested in local artifacts than for someone hoping to get an overview, understanding of the area and the people.

This museum is being restored and expanded. There is one really wonderful room all decorated in wood with carved figures, crests and decorative patterns. I would go just to see this.

Interesting local museum if you're already in Sondrio. The 'dungeons' are nice too. Friendly and helpful receptionist

The MVSA is a very interesting small museum, hosted in the 16th century Palace Sassi de' Lavizzari.
The museum is divided into six sections:
- Archaeology
- Holy Art
- Collections
- Ligari (a family that contributed greatly to the arts)
- 19 Hundreds
- History
I especially enjoyed the sections of Archaeology (from prehistory to the Middle Ages), the Holy Art (with several beautiful paintings from local churches), but also the remaining collections were interesting.
It is worth noticing that one of the exhibition rooms is the so called "Salis Stüa": the heart of the original palace, entirely paneled in wood and warmed by a stove, stoked from the outside. This "Stüa" dates from the 17th century and it is the only one visible in Sondrio, still in its original place.
