Travelled to Geel war cemetery to place Mother in Law's ashes with her late husband, a war casualty from 1944.
As always with these sites, they are kept in pristine order by CWGC and I hope that always will be.

Small, well kept and close to the centre. So many buried in a town as small as Geel. Sadly, there are cemeteries like this all over Europe.

War Cemetary
Jun 2017 • Couples
It's a small cemetary but a very serene one. It makes you stand still about all the sacrifices that had been made. You can sit on a bench in a little chapel and read about the history of it.

Eén grafsteen zegt: 'Private S. Gatward Age 35: 'To all the world he was one. But to us he was all the world. Wife baby and family.' Dat zegt genoeg. Ook na bijna 75 jaar.

Battle for Geel
Feb 2017 • Solo
I rate 'average' because all the military cemetaries are set up the same. With 400 casualties, the size of this cemetary is average. One of the few physical reminders of the battle for Geel that took place here in 1944. One Canadian, the rest are British. When in the area, it is always good to take some time to contemplate our violent past in such a place.

Geel (Allied) War Cemetery
Sep 2015 • Solo
On a recent visit to Mol, I passed through Geel and notice a small sign to the Geel War Cemetery of the main road to Mol. I turned of to have a look. It is a rather unknown small, very well kept Allied war cemetery. Of particular interest to me as a Canadian is that includes Canadian WWII casualties from the Province of Quebec.
