We have done a lot of wine tours around the world, lately South Africa and Galicia in Northern Spain and this could be up there with them with some improvements. There are some excellent wineries but they are set up just for Brazilians with very few English speakers to guide you. It would be great to have a wine tram to do a route around the more accessible wineries - like Franschhoek in SA - maybe running at weekends with a wine route with stops at wineries that do set tastings e.g.3, 4 or 5 glasses for certain amounts on a menu with different languages.
Nether the less, we had a great day in the Valley and would recommend foreigners to visit.

I've only visited Rio Grande do Sul and Vale dos Vinhedos one time, but it is already one of my absolute favorite places in Brazil! It feels a great deal like northern Italy. As a wine region, it's not quite as beautiful as Piemonte, Italy and is not nearly as famous as Burgundy or Champagne or even Napa or Sonoma. But Vale dos Vinhendos has many of the traits of each of those wonderful wine regions. Brazilian wine is still developing and not quite ready for the grand global wine stage, but I have hope and optimism that enough Brazilian wine makers are on the right path and have the right attitude to get this beautiful wine region to the point where it will compete not just with Chile and Argentina, but with the likes of France, Italy, Germany, and the US. When you go to Brazil, be sure to take the time to visit Vale dos Vinhedos! It'll be worth the trip.

If you are fond of wine appreciation and winery visiting, do not miss a great journey in the only certified wine-making place, Vale dos Vinhedos. There are all sorts of small and huge wineries, all of them offering the visitors welcoming tours and great wine, cheese and grape juice tasting. The best time of the year to drive there is in February of March, harvesting time, when the visitor can take part in "Colheitas (harvest) parties.

There are many wineries by the road. Some of them you don't need previous reservation. Some of them also have restaurants, so one can spend the day out.

The "vale dos vinhedos" (wineries valley) is an incredible place with a lot os wineries where you can taste wines and most of them you don't pay for it. Unless you do a tour and harmonization (pairing the wine with food).

Having been to Chianti, Montalcino and Provence, Vale dos Vinhedos is a very very nice surprise. Abundance of places to eat and drink and have coffee, everything high quality, reasonable prices.

We were in a motorcycle tour around Bento Gonçalves and, of course, we had to go to Vale dos Vinhedos! There are many wineries to visit over there besides other different places like Spa do Vinho for instance. Very very nice!

For wine lovers a must-see program in Brazil. Of course there is a strong influence of Italian culture but much has developed in recent decades and tourism here is serious business handled by the association of producers and the tourism authority. In addition to the large domestic manufacturers also have very cool boutiques. The landscape speaks for itself. We came exactly at the beginning of spring that starts today 22/9/2016. Blue sky, 8 degrees centigrade in the morning 22 degrees in the afternoon. Typical spring day .Nothing that Italian cuisine and a good wine can not solve. Program for a whole day. At least. Take care be for the driver and if you drink do not drive kakakakaka. We stayed 5 days in the region. Novconhecer strains wine grapes are being introduced, sons of former settlers who met when children are now trained winemakers and some estadando abroad to bring more knowledge. Get acquainted with the state of the art winery in our country!

This is a really beautiful tour, good to know the stories about the immigrants that have built this wine valley, to eat good food, to learn about local culture, to see old and beautiful constructions, to drink good wines....!
There are many options so I recommend to pre- check the ones that are most interesting for you and plan ahead.
