I was really looking forward to it as I love trains, and the short journey from one little town to another on an old steam train sounded las did the "wine tasting". Loved the train, but the music blasting throughout the journey and the "performers" singing and dancing every 15 min or so really spoiled the whole thing. Not to... More

Meeting the Brazilian wine families and the wine tasting was fun. Unfortunately the train ride added little value to the trip, and we saw it as using time that we wished we spent on other attractions. There is virtually no sightseeing possible from the train, as the majority of the route was lined by trees. Now, I (an American) like... More

I just loved it. There are many performances and wine, and champagne and a few stops on the way. A fun day

Get back to the old days when the steam train was the main way to go from Bento Gonçalves and Carlos Barbosa. You'd better have your tickets in advance! As soon as you get the train station, you can have red or white local wines. During the trip you'll experience some funny attractions performed by local artists.

It is a good ride on a vapor train. Before departure you can drink red wine, at first, as much as you can. On the middle of the trip there is another stop, where grape juice and sparkling wine is served. Along the journey there is some presentations with music and theater. Nothing spectacular but very cool. If you have... More

Our group of 8 tried to make a reservation for this highly rated steam train ride more than a month ahead of our visit, but it was booked solid. They agreed to put us on a waiting list, and during our drive from Porto Allegro to Bento Goncalves, we got a phone call saying they could accommodate all 8 of... More

Maria fumaca is a one way train ride Carlos barbosa to bento Goncalves or reverse. Interesting old steam engine uses wood. Music and dance take place on platform and in train. No English offered but translations in brochure. Very touristy but charming.
