Indonesia-- no visa for many nationalities
Aug 2019
Unlike in the past, many nationalities no longer need a visa to enter Indonesia as tourists for a month, as this land crossing is now linked up to the visa on arrival and entry without visa computer system, just like major Indonesian airports. This means people coming from PNG no longer have to overnight in Vanimo waiting for a visa at the Indonesian Consulate there.

Unfortunately, the PNG side hasn't upgraded its facilities or procedures in a similar way, so they miss out on a lot of tourist revenue.

Nice place to spend a free time in jayapura
Oct 2018
In Skouw border post, we can see a lot of PNG's people bought they need from Indonesia's land like food, toiletries, and others equipment, something that we can't see in Indonesia - Malaysia borders. Maklumm..☺☺☺

I hope Skouw Border Post, not just Rancak di Labuah but give a lot opportunity to our Papuan brother and be a pride to the nation

Bring Your Passport to cross
Nov 2018 • Business
In november 2018, I had a bussiness trip to Jayapura. After finished my work, we went to Skouw-border post pf Indonesia-PNG.

It is clean, beautiful place, even still a construction site for local market, near the border post.

Unfortunately, we weren't allowed to cross the border. My colleague says it's a new rules some weeks ago.

But we agreed that this border is must be on your check list when visit Jayapura, only 90 minutes drive.

Skow is the border post between Indonesia dan PNG. In Indonesia area where nice and well maintained, don’t forget to take pictures near the monuments, with light house as background. The army who guarding the border are very friendly. We don't need special permit to cross the border.

The border
Apr 2017 • Friends
We arrived after 3 PM and the army said the border gate will close on 4 PM. So we immidiately cross the border and from the hill in the PNG side I saw a beatifull view of beach down the hill. We must pay IDR10.000 to the local villager there. Then we cross back the border and take some picture at the border post, monument and sign letters. We don't need special permit to cross the border.

Be here sooner, because the border closes at 4 PM
May 2016 • Business
I arrived at this place, Skuow, the Indonesia and Papua New Guinea border 15 minutes before 4 PM. I regretted so much since I only had few time to enjoy the view from the top of the hill. So just remember to get here sooner. If you came here sooner, you can have a special permit to visit the town by the beach down below the hill on PNG land.

But even enjoying the view from the top of the hill was breath taking. The shore line of PNG beach from high land is also something to enjoy. This particular place to enjoy such view is on the land of a PNG villager’s home. All you have to do is pay IDR 10.000 (less than 1 USD) for every person and you can enjoy the scenery. They sell souvenir too, you should get some as a memorabilia like hats, bracelets, key rings, or even Kuna coins (Kuna is the PNG’s currency).

After you get back to Indonesia land, don’t forget to take pictures near the monuments, with light house as background, and also take pictures with Indonesian army who guard the border.
