We had a very nice boat excursion, leaving from Porticello and going all the way to Aspra. The snorkeling at the Scoglio della Formica was very enjoyable, and the lighting effects in one of the grottos we swam into (too small for the boat) was really beautiful. Our skipper Domenico was very nice, available and knowledgeable, and had water and fresh fruit ready for us in between the swims. The boat holds up to 9 people, if you have a big enough group (though less than nine) you can negotiate a price to have the boat only for yourselves. Certainly worthwhile taking this tour if you are in the area.

A trip on a charming wooden boat 'Clara' is an absolute must do if you're visiting anywhere near Palermo! The boat itself, along with a knowledgeable and friendly skipper Domenico, has a great character and suitable enough for quite a bit group of friends as well amazing for a romantic outing. The scenery is simply beautiful starting with the wonderful Secca della Formica, the remains of an ancient rocky outcrops, which is also an ideal place for diving and snorkeling, and finishing with a one of the most picturesque nature's wonders of a Sicilian coast, an Arco Azzurro. The sea, the sun, the views and a bottle of delicious Italian wine, an outing organized by a good friend who's also a local and knows all the great gems around is definitely one of the highlights of our Italian adventure!
