This is far-famed for the madrassa sunken into the courtyard, its tiled minarets, and its lofty badgirs. It also has splendid muqarna work on the dome of the entrance portal. The entrance door is said to have many nail studs as there are verses in the Quran. The decoration is largely cafe-au-lait brickwork with light blue and brown geometric tiles, but some of the patterned tiles are fabulous. A thoroughly interesting complex.

Definitely worth a visit. When entering it seems to be a normal mosque.. but while getting closer the lower levels appear what seems to be almost an optical illusion.. have not seen this before. Furthermore, there can be seen nice tile work beneath the dome. Get there during sunlight and for sunset, it looks great. Highly recommended.

Mosque and Madrasa Agha Bozorg, a Kashan sage: it is an original mosque because it has one of the largest brick domes in Iran. It has two levels, the mosque on the first floor and the madrasa below. The madrasa is a Koranic school that trains mullahs. It’s recommended to visit, a must-see in Kashan.

This historical mosque was built in the late 18th century by master-mimar Ustad Haj Sa'ban-ali. The mosque is not in use any more, the theological school in its basement is, however, active. It’s a quite place appropriate for reflection!
We happened to be there during the “rose water” festival 3/5 which is a popular event drawing large crowds from all over the country. It was fantastic as there were many vendors selling a wide variety selection of roses, rose water and perfume at bargain prices.

A mosque and madraseh in a different style, relying more on beautiful brickwork patterns than elaborate tiling. Beautiful proportions, quiet and peaceful.

The Aga Bozorg Mosque is nice to visit during the day: there's a sunken courtyard surrounded by student rooms and this combination of mosque and madrassa is architectonically interesting and well resolved. It also leads to a good mix of tourists, religious families, Mullahs and studious Mullahs-to-be that make the scene peaceful and quiet yet diverse and dynamic.
But even if you visited it during the day, it's well worth it going back at night again. The colourful lights make its symmetry stand out even more and it's like being in a different place altogether.

Agha Bozorg Mosque is a historical mosque was built in the late 18th century by master-mi'mar Ustad Haj Sa'ban-ali.
It's one of the most different mosques in the Qajar era with the multi-story, which is also a school.
