Chairman Mao was giving birth at this small villages in Shaoshan farmer family. This residence where he lived for 17 years with his siblings and parents . The old residence show case of his childhood and the farming works. He loves to study instead of doing the farm work as one of the eldest son, he has high expectation from his dad to inherit the family business. Great to visit if you happen to be here to see his childhood residence ! This is just another 10 mins walk from the bronze statue. You may expect to have Long queue into visiting if his house and you also need to keep your camera and big carrier in the locker!

At Mao Zedong's Former Residence, you'll see the history of his childhood life. I feel so proud that once a time in my life I'll be there. The house is surrounded by the mountain, field and the lake. Nearby the house, also have the museum show the history of the new China era.

I had a lovely half day trip from Changsha to Mao Zedong’s Former Residence. It was very interesting to see his former residence and the surrounding parklands. There is a statue of Mao Zedong in the vicinity which is one of the highlights of the area. Both the statue and former residence are very busy, especially in the mornings, so plan a trip with this in mind.

Since childhood I have heard so many stories about great leader and revolutionary Chairman Mao Zedong. Finally I get chance to visit this place in October 2017. I really love this place. Lots of things to learn here. there are special bus for the tourist. You have to keep your passport with you. No bags are allowed in the house of Chairman Mao. you can visit Mao Zedong's primary school here. It is better to hire a guide. Our guide's name was Tower. you can find him too. I love historical places. So I find this place very interesting. Autumn and Spring are preferable time for visit. You can also enjoy the beautiful weather and natural beauty of Hunan here.

Use a licensed guide. Traveling by the high way cuts the time required. Basically, a typical village house that is attached to another. There are pig and cow pen within the house, in addition to farm tools. Very historical in nature and a must for aspiring CCCP members. See this place in conjunction with the Dripping Water Cave and Liu Shaoqi Residence.
