One can walk from his old house to this statue. It is about 10 minutes away.

Tourists should show their respects to Chairman Mao instead just busy taking photos.

I looked up the statue and the struggle of new China reflected on my minds. Without Chairman Mao, China will not be as today.

I overheard a conversation: why there is no Japanese tourists here! Well it is obvious.

Many may know late Chairman Mao from outside as Chinese revolution leader in China that makes a new China close to 70 years ago. Chairman Mao passed away in 1976 Sept 9 at age of 82! This bronze statue is to memorable of him at his 100 years old birthday. Many of his fan and fellow citizens come to lay their wreaths at all season and pay respect to him. Very respectable leader in many Chinese till today. Lovely park and you can enjoy the picture taking !

So I came to Shaoshan for a business trip and was invited to visit the square. There is a huge statue and people pay tribute to Chairman Mao. We went on a lovely day and they do bowing ceremonies for the visitors.

The area is actually very massive in size and you need to walk a lot too. After passing the front gate, need to walk a few minutes before reaching the place where the statue is located. Although Im not a history fan but I cant help but feeling a bit patriotic seeing the legendary statue. Do expect crowds even during non-peak season.

The bronze statue of Chairman Mao is majestic. If you offer flower bouquets, your name will be announced and you will be called upon to the front to pay tribute. There's nothing else to see or do here.
