Passing through to Stockholm we stopped to eat in Brahehus. Across the street was the Brahehus Castle. Great views and pictures of the remains

An small little ruins overlooking vattern lake. Makes a good picnic place or food stopover while traveling between Stockholm and Gothenburg. A great place for a sunny day outing with amazing views of lake and sky. Have a look around and find a quiet place...More

We really enjoyed our time here. A nice little hike and amazing views of the lake and surrounding countryside. Fun to glimpse the past here. A stunning bride was getting pictures taken while we were there. It seemed a perfect backdrop for her.

A great and small remnant from the past. Just stop at the gas station and restaurant. Stretch your legs and take a walk to this historical remnant. It's recommended to come here during nice weather, since there is no roof, only walls left. Fantastic view...More

Brahehus has always fascinated me. In the old days when you were traveling on Riksettan down by the lake the old ruin was way above you. Today there is a dual lane highway passing just by the old ruin but the fascination is still there....More

Though only the walls and the grounds are remaining, it is still a vibrant place and you can pick up the luxury and way of life a couple of centuries ago.
