The temple is surrounded by lofty pine and deodar trees. Kasaar Devi is the reign deity. We stayed at Kasaar Jungle Resort and visited the temple though an uphill road from the hotel, the trek was reasonably easy The temple is not very big, when we visited in a June’22 morning, there was limited crowd. It was a divine visit to the temple.Visited June 2022Written February 23, 2023

- Digvijay SinghNoida, India7 contributionsA Tranquil Escape to Kasar Devi, Uttarakhand: A 3-Day JourneyThe alarm rang out at the crack of dawn, marking the beginning of our much-anticipated trip from Noida to the picturesque Kasar Devi in Uttarakhand. The excitement was palpable as we embarked on a 3-day adventure to this serene Himalayan destination. Upon reaching Kasar Devi, our first stop was the renowned Kasar Devi Temple. Nestled amidst lush greenery and offering panoramic views of the majestic Himalayas, this ancient temple exuded an aura of mystique and spirituality. We spent hours exploring the temple premises, marveling at the intricate architecture, and soaking in the tranquil vibes. As the day drew to a close, we couldn't miss the opportunity to witness the famous sunset of Kasar Devi. Perched atop a hill, we watched in awe as the sun dipped below the snow-capped peaks, painting the sky with shades of orange and pink. It was a breathtaking sight that set the tone for the rest of our journey.Visited October 2023Written October 9, 2023

The temple structure dates to the 2nd century CE. A winding walkway from gateway on the Almora-Binsar main road, right the beginning of the village, leads up to the temple. There is another vehicle route going to Sri Sarda Math which drops you half way, we choose that. We clicked several pics from the Hilltop that provides beautiful scenes of valley and Himalayas and views of Almora and Hawalbagh through deodar and pine trees. . As per a sign board at the temple, according to NASA, this temple is positioned on the earth's Van Allen Belt. The region surrounding the Kasar Devi Temple is a powerful electromagnetic field of immense positive energy created by Cosmic Rays and Solar Wind similar to that of Stonehenge in England and Machu Picchu in Peru. The unique distinction of Kasar Devi has attracted Sages Mystics and Yogis through the ages and the visitors today can feel and experience the positive energy and serenity which has remained undiminished. As per another sign board in the temple, Kasar Devi first became known when in the September, 1890, Swami Vivekananda visited and meditated in a solitary cave on this mountain here and has mentioned his experience in his diaries. In later history, at the peak of the Hippie movement, the area also became a part of the Hippie trail. Crank's Ridge, colloquially known as Hippie Hill, which lies ahead of Kasar Devi became a popular destination. Another board showing that Rock Inscription having two lines written In Brahmi-Lipi of 6th Century are there on the left side of the hill. But poor maintenance does not allow us to see the inscriptions on the rocks highlighted there. A large fair, known as Kasar Devi Fair, is held at the Kasar Devi temple on the occasion of Kartik Poornima in the Hindu calendar, corresponding to November and December.Visited September 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 27, 2023

The best place for Meditation.
Kasar Devi is one of the only three places on Earth including Machu Picchu in Peru and Stone Henge in England to best the strongest geo-magnetic field which is believed to be the best for meditation.
Swami Vivekanada Ji also visited the place and started his spiritual journey from here.
If you visit Almora, visit Kasar Devi for sure, it's just 13 Km from Almora.
The whole region is covered by Pine forests hence enhancing the beauty of this place.

If you plan to be in Kumaon, this is a MUST visit place. My suggestion is to stay for at least 1 day to watch the beauty of the nature in early mornings! This is a great place for experiencing inner peace and tranquility. Has very positive energy! Blessed are those who live nearby and can visit often. Will surely visit again and again!

The feeling that one gets at this place can't be described in words. This is one of the three places in the world that provides a unique magnetic power which triggers such a mental peace and happiness which usually can be achieved by doing hours of meditation at some other place. In 1890, Swami Vivekanand visited this place and achieved great spiritual peace by meditation. Still lot of people go there for doing meditation and find solace. The view of Himalayan range from this place is spectacular.

Kasar Devi is a village near Almora, Uttrakhand. It is known for the Temple dedicated to Goddess Kasar Devi.
The temple structure dates to the 2nd century. A place also known for Crank's Ridge, just outside the village, which was popular destination during the Hippie movement of the 1960s and 1970s, and continues to attracts trekkers and tourists, both domestic and foreign.
The area was visited by many personalities of the counter-culture like Swami Vivekananda, Sunyata Baba, Alfred Sorensen and Lama Anagarika Govinda, Bob Dylan, George Harrison and Cat Stevens, Western Buddhist Robert Thurman, and writer D. H. Lawrence were among Famous Personalities who spent two summers here.
This temple has been of special importance because the region around this temple has enormous geomagnetic field because this temple comes under the Van Allen Belt. The causes behind the formation of this belt have been researched by NASA. The other two famous places having similar high magnetic field are Machu Picchu in Peru and Stone Henge in England.
Kasar Devi is situated on a hill top, on the edge of a ridge off the Almora-Bageshwar highway. It is accessible through eight-km hike from Almora or 10 km by road. There is a village of Kalimath nearby popular with tourists. Also Kasar Devi is Situated nearby Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary, which lies 30 km away.
The area is home to deodar and pine forests. It also provides views not just of Almora and the Hawabagh Valley, but also of the panoramic view of the Himalayas from Bandarpunch peak on the Himachal Pradesh border to Api Himal in Nepal.
It is interesting to note that people who have meditated at Kasar Devi have expressed a degree of higher rejuvenation and have attached special importance to it.
Due to geomagnetic field in the region, one experiences more peaceful and tranquil environment. Must Visit in Almora to experience this Phenomenon.

Swami Vivekanand, one of the greatest spiritual master once visited this place and was moved to feel that the positivity and calmness that he meditated for years here. It was also recognized by the U.S. space agency N.A.S.A. for its mysterious presence of strong magnetic field lines. When I visited the place, i could feel the sudden calmness of mind and the body. The breath movement was more noticeable then ever. Meditate here for sometime and you can feel the settling of inside yourself. A must visit and feel place for every spiritual, yoga and meditation practice follower.

this place has been in news recently as it is one of the 3 spiritual places on the entire planet that provide picturesque beauty as well as have unprecedented , unique magnetic power that provides mental peace & triggered intrigue in even the NASA scientists who visited this temple in 2013 to study the unique phenomenon & conducting experiments to know the effects of this huge amount of magnetic energy.
they have identified the temple & its surroundings as a part of van Alan belt that houses huge amount of electro-magnetic particles similar to the Machu Pichu in Peru, South America & the ancient stone hedge in England .These places have been found to provide mental peace & spiritual bliss.
this place was visited by SWAMI VIVEKANAND in 1890 who stayed here for meditation.
this temple is nearly 2000 years old & is indeed surrounded by quiet & peace.
it can be easily reached from Almora which is 13 km away & one has to climb nearly 100 pucca steps to reach the temple housed in a prehistoric natural cave & another 50 steps to Shiva temple located uphill.
the place is good for meditation & also provides breathtaking views of Almora
