About 5 KM from Shirdi. The Sakori Ashram is where Upasani Maharaj. Upasani Maharaj was one of the staunch devotees of Sai Baba started living in Sakori on instructions of Sai Baba from 1917. Upasani Maharaj Built a cage there in which he lived for over 13 months. The cage is still there. The ashram is well maintained and give a glimpse of life of Upasani Maharaj and Godavari Devi, who was staunch disciple of Maharaj and who managed the ashram after Maharaj. Must visit

I went to Upasani Maharaj Ashram. He was an ardent disciple of Sai Baba. Situated off the Shirdi-Ahmednagar State highway, the ashram contains the samadhi of the Maharaj and one of his disciples. It is great place to go.

This Ashram located about 20-30 kilometers from Shirdi, hold the Samadhi of Upasani Maharaj and his most faithful lady devotee. Upasani Maharaj is believed to be the one and only disciple of Sai Baba though he has many devotees and followers around the globe today. The place is mended by women devotees and it is said that the Bramakumari Movement started by this devotee. The movement mainly preaches and teachers the Yoga and Yogic practices as well as being a great support to needy women around the world today in terms of spirituality, monitory and inner strength. One will be able to see the original photo of Sri Sai Baba of Shirdi hang elegantly at the entrance wall. This is a rare photo taken during Baba's younger days (in his 20s) One visiting Shirdi should make it a point to visit this peaceful and tranquilized Ashram. Om Sai Ram.
