- FHTR In RajasthanJaipur, India259 contributionsBhangarh a Mystery FortBhangarh Fort in Rajasthan is more than just a ruin. It is nestled amidst the lush green Aravalli Hills and steeped in legends that fuel its mysterious atmosphere. Despite its ruined state, the fort includes grand havelis, like the Nartakiyoni ki Haveli once home to dancers, Purohitji ki Haveli and the marketplace. This once-seven-story royal palace now stands at four stories. The fort has four entrances and besides the main gate, there are several Hindu temples showcasing 17th-century architecture. Whether you believe the legends or not, Bhangarh Fort is a unique experience, offering a mix of history, beauty, and a touch of the supernatural.Visited March 2024Traveled with friendsWritten March 14, 2024
- Let's Go SightseeingNoida, India2,912 contributionsA Haunted Place in IndiaIf you’re a lover of all things paranormal, the Bhangarh Fort will leave you elated. If you’re not, you can still enjoy the climb & walk through, and listen to the haunted stories. The Bhangarh Fort exemplifies traditional town planning. The bazaar, common residences, temples and the main fort complex – all are well designed. As we walked towards the entrance, we were flanked by banyan trees. Walking past the bazaar ruins, I could not help thinking how it would have been a bustling market once. Immediately after entering, we came upon the Gopinath Temple. The Gopinath Temple is the most impressive one amongst all the temples at the Bhangarh Fort. It has fabulous carvings. Bhangarh features regularly in ‘Haunted Places in India’ lists. We noticed the stream of tourists. But it would be interesting to see what ambience it takes after sunset! Irrespective of all the fables, do go there to ascertain for yourself if it is really haunted. The Bhangarh Fort is best visited from November to February; we had scaled it on a January afternoon & it was quite warm then. And ensure you engage a guide; ours claimed to have heard women crying in there!Visited January 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 11, 2024
- K S NarayananNew Delhi, India15 contributionsBhangarh FortBhangarh Fort is quite captivating. It is unlike traditional forts of Rajasthan that are found on hilltops. You won't see the fort until you reach there !!! It is set in the foothills with natural security cover of awesome hills in three sides. It is in ruins now and the palace and market places would have been a place of splendor in its era. Temples are still intact. We don't need any guide to understand the place because everything is self explanatory. You can enjoy Soda Lemon & Maggi at the parking area near the entrance of the monument. We found hordes of Camels on our way there. There were at least 100 of them in one horde.Visited October 2024Traveled with familyWritten October 8, 2024
- Ian WhitakerGodalming, United Kingdom793 contributionsWell Worth a VisitIt was a larger complex than I thought it would be and I enjoyed the visit …. from the lovely temple at the entrance to the overgrown Banyan tree and accompanying Monkeys through the roughly paved walk to the impressive Fort area Take water and wear good shoes and go slowly if it is hot weather. I wish that I had had a banana with me for the Monkeys that did not trouble us at all Supposedly haunted during the night but the resident Monkeys showed no signs of trauma and were completely zonked out!!….. although our friend did feel a spiritual connection with the beautiful old overgrown Banyan Tree that she touchedVisited November 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten November 23, 2024
- kayBengaluru, India56 contributionsBetter than expectedWe were not hoping to see much but we really enjoyed the place. We started from Jaipur at 8 and it took us around 2 hours to reach. This fort has quite a bit of walk and incline. There were a lot of guides in the entrance. We were told that a guide would not be needed but we still hired one. He tried to scare us with all the local ghost stories and also told us that women here don't leave their hair open because of ghosts ( Our family had women with open hair and we are all fine :) ) He showed us the place around. Though he did not give us any extra information, it was a fun experience listening to all the stories. The fort was clean compared to the surroundings. Too many monkeys but they did not trouble us. Overall, it was a good experience.Visited January 2025Traveled with familyWritten January 11, 2025

The Govt licensed guide spoiled the entire visit. Kept on saying there is no ghost nor anything supernatural here. These stories are only spread for publicity. It seems he was born here and has been raised here only, so he knows the most. He finished off in 20mins asking for Rs.100 as per his printed rate list. Really disappointed.am sharing a picture of the guide for your reference

Beautiful crumbling fort who is known for its stories of being haunted. There is. Temple, a ticket counter and a few guards here and there but no guides or anyone to tell you about the place — the history or the myths. You come with questions and go back puzzled. The whole fort stems to be crumbling. But it still somehow enchants you.

Roughly half Km walk from Parking to the Palace. Ruins of the bazaar start from the gate till the Palace (Chudhi bazaar as shown in the movie Karan Arjun). Interesting story behind the collapsed roofs of all the ruins except for the temples. Carry your own water with you (no bottled water available inside the gate). Free entry for children. Good to visit at least once. A must visit for people interested in paranormal activities.

Popularised as a haunted place but many a news anchors proved it wrong by visiting and staying there with their team using some sensors.Anyway you can visit the fort in daytime and you will definitely love the picturesque settings of the fort and other structures.A well planned market of the bygone era now in ruins gives you an idea how planned the business centre was . a nice view of the temples and the paved road is worth seeing.some good hotels are available around it at economical prices.A luxurious hotel is also nearby but too expensive for stay and food.

The fort complex is quite large and interesting if you like wandering around ruins, which I do. I spent a couple of hours here seeing the marketplace, the havelis, and the first itself. I recommend getting a guide as you will see and understand much more. He explained a lot of the history and rumors of the site and took me to parts I wouldn't have been able to find myself. As a foreigner, be ready to bargain though. His opening offer was 2500Rs!

Looks like old ruin fort. I ll maintained. So called guides are local people to loot. They have half cooked up stories. There is Krishna temple but no idol. You can visit to tick it off your travel bucket.Nothing spooky during daytime and you are not allowed during night time

This is massive! Wear good shoes. There is a lot of walking. I hired a guide there but don't do this, as he was useless and I learnt very little. He also wanted to charge way too much. I could barely understand his English. Read up in a book before you go. I covered a lot of the area but not everything as it was way too much. Also there were hardly any tourists, I was getting hounded and felt a little nervous as a solo female traveller. Mind the monkeys. They are vicious and were after bags, bottles and food.

Easy walking (there are steps) a visit is max 2 hours. You’ll see the royal palace, 2-3 temples, fortifications, and where the people used to live. Not much signage. Need a guide. Best to visit around 7-7:30 to avoid heat and crowds. No water or toilets.

Because it has a beautiful architecture and a back story that goes with a fort from the top the whole town is visible and covered by hills on 3 sides, so if enemy is to attack it is from plain line of sight.
A strategically made location gone desert within a few days, that's why it is intriguing plus the ruins
