Kefalonia Island Tour

28 reviews
Commence a scenic island drive through olive groves, vineyards and thick cypress glades. Passing through the Mount Aenos you will visit the Robola Winery and taste the famous Robola variety of wine. Explore the Drogarati Caves, famous for their acoustics. Visit the geological phenomenon that is the Melissani Lake which is in an underground cave. Next, we go for lunch to the cosmopolitan village of Fiscardo, untouched after the great earthquake of 1953. Leaving Fiscardo you will head to the little fishing village of Assos, which gives the impression of being an island of its own. En route on our way back, you’ll make a photo stop at Myrtos Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

What you will see:
• Robola Winery – Visit inside, wine tasting
• Drogarati Cave – Visit inside
• Melissani Lake – Visit inside, boat ride
• Fiscardo Village – Lunch break (optional)
• Assos Village – Coffee stop
• Photo-stop at Myrtos beach

Yes as the other reviews says the ‘acropolis’ is now a pile of rubble but it’s so worth it for the amazing views. You can park easily along the road then it’s a rocky path to the top only taking 10 minutes (lose rocks so trainers best) then head right through the rubble for the most amazing views over Sami and the coast line, really beautiful.

If you are visiting here it would pay to do some Google research as the site has a very interesting history but limited information at the actual site. The walk from the car park does not have disability access and could be challenging for those who are not reasonably fit. The views from the top are excellent. We were fascinated by the very ancient olive trees in the area - some must be many centuries old. If you are in the area its worth a visit but its not as impressive as are the numerous other classical sites in Greece.

This is a lovely place. High over Sami and with a beautiful view over the bay. Some wonderful old olivetrees can be seen here.

Whilst the long some parts dangerous trek at time’s seem pointless and the acropolis little more than a pile of rubble some of the views are stunning on a clear day

There is not a lot to say about the Acropolis other than the fact that you can get some good views and the countryside surrounding it is attractive. The Acropolis itself requires considerable imagination and could be taken to be a pile of rubble! Not the most atmospheric places to go.
