Kefalonia Island Tour

28 reviews
Commence a scenic island drive through olive groves, vineyards and thick cypress glades. Passing through the Mount Aenos you will visit the Robola Winery and taste the famous Robola variety of wine. Explore the Drogarati Caves, famous for their acoustics. Visit the geological phenomenon that is the Melissani Lake which is in an underground cave. Next, we go for lunch to the cosmopolitan village of Fiscardo, untouched after the great earthquake of 1953. Leaving Fiscardo you will head to the little fishing village of Assos, which gives the impression of being an island of its own. En route on our way back, you’ll make a photo stop at Myrtos Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

What you will see:
• Robola Winery – Visit inside, wine tasting
• Drogarati Cave – Visit inside
• Melissani Lake – Visit inside, boat ride
• Fiscardo Village – Lunch break (optional)
• Assos Village – Coffee stop
• Photo-stop at Myrtos beach

So sad seeing the demise of the beachfront tavernas and beach bars, blown away by the Cyclone, with a large proportion of the beach also washed away. However we did enjoy the natural beauty of the bay and crystal clear blue sea. I am sure that it will be restored to its formal beauty prior to next season, we enjoyed lunch and drinks at the sole surviving taverna.

First half of the beach has storm damage but further in the taverna is open and the sea is crystal clear. Great snorkelling

Post cyclone review ... all but one of the tavernas have been severely damaged - the other one escaped the deluge and is fully open. The beach has huge chasms in it, scoured by the mud and water raging down the valley. But you can negotiate your way around them to find a nice spot. The main car park is closed, so parking is limited, but available - not many people here now due to Covid and the weather! The water is as lovely as ever, mostly little white stones, and the colours of the sea just as spectacular. And at least it’s quiet now ... all the ghastly taverna music has gone. It’s a sad way to lose it though!!!

Stones, not sand. But very warm water, calm for swimming. Very confusing about whether you have to pay for a lounger. There are some on the beach free, but most you have to pay for. €8 for two for the day. Very chilled bars to get a drink. Good vibe.
