We had a great time with Halisi African Adventures in Bagamoyo,
Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. We went on a tour to learn more about Bagamoyo culture and history. It was all flexible and upon to our needs and wishes although our booking was on very short notice. Additionally to the Kaole Ruins and Stonetown, He always cared about us and was very polite and made the history alive.
All in all it was a really nice day with someone who lives in the place , knows all kind of people and could share some insghts.

I really enjoyed touring the Kaole ruins. Such fascinating history into Kaole’s beginnings. Although, the remains are left, you have some idea of what things looked like in that time period. I especially liked the baobab tree, mud creepers, and learning about burial practices of Islamic leaders. The lovers grave is also an interesting story as well. It’s a short tour but worth taking a look into. Enjoy!

Our guide took us to this magical well in the ruins, where there is pure water.
It is said that the usage of this water cures any ailments in the body.
The ruins are well maintained and a must see, whilst in Bagamoyo

Worth the money you pay to visit these ruins. But nothing unforgettable.

Amazing to go by bike as you can have a wonderful view of the ocean.

Very much worth the 20000TZS (about $10 - tourist rate; residents 5000 or 10000). Well cared for ruins from the 13th century. A tour guide was included in the price. Nice small informative museum on site. Highly recommend a visit. If you are a walker - its about 2 and a half miles from the southern end of Bagamoyo town, or grab a motorcycle taxi for 1000-2000TZS.

The tour staff here is what makes it work. They are knowledgable and have taken the time to learn and relate interesting stories. Need to see this soon as these ruins are decomposing and I'll bet in 20 or 30 years there will not be much there. They need to look at improving the potential durability of the remaining structures.

Peaceful wander around the ruins. Area not large, so very doable even with a small child in tow. Interrsting look into history of area in 13th - 15th centuries, amazing that these gras and mosque-ruins are sill there. Wonder what might be found if area around was to be excavated .... Museum nice, and outside classrooms for visiting groups under thee trees great.

If you are in Bagamoyo for some other reason the ruins are worthy a visit. It is nothing spectacular but it is a nice excursion to do for an hour or two. The guides are not that good in english, but you will learn something about the history of the region.
