Saw a lot of birds like kingfishers, sparrows, Asian fly catcher, egrets, swans, etc.. Good for nature lovers.. Need patience. Don't miss watch tower 2. Lots of walking to do as well. Not recomm for senior citizens with walking problem.

Could not find more than 3 species of the birds. We went there at the evening time but still not many birds.

Its adjacent to KTDC waterscapes resort. We were staying there so went to the sanctuary. Dont think any exotic birds come here in any season. But its a good place to take a nature walk - kind of small jungle for kids. Once can see normal birds around. Peaceful and safe place to be. best to visit during morning hours.

While I would still say this is worth visiting if you have a few hours while visiting Kumarakom - you should be prepared. This sanctuary is basically a walking trail located on KTDC property (an old rubber plantation, I read) where plenty of birds nest (and mosquitos breed - given the stagnant water all around). We went early to avoid... More

Bird sanctuary offers 2.5 km long scenic walk in a lush green natural environment. I visited in December which is a breeding season for birds and was not fortunate to see many birds. Though a good place to visit in kumarakom

Have been to the bird sanctuary with very high hopes but it turned out to be quite a disappointment. Sighting of birds was almost next to impossible only birds which we could see was Wood peckers, some kingfishers and a lot of crows where as this was a good time to visit. The Sanctuary needs to be maintained properly.

It must have been the rather late hour (8:30 am) when we ventured into this 'sanctuary' hoping to catch some exotic birds.. Alas it was to be just a mile long trek down narrow, uneven paths.. with NO sighting of any bird worth the name... Its not too big a place. Its mad made.. with houses / people living on... More
