Initially in the woods , I could see only a couple of birds but I did manage to capture nice pics. Later moving to Laggon area on a boat, I could spot quite a few different birds including various kinds of flycatchers, cormorants and even kingfisher. Should visit in the right season. I was told that Jan is a better... More

We were there in December 2016 and apparently we arrived well before the migratory birds. It was a nice walk in the woods. We didn't see a single bird!

We visited this place in mid-January which was non-season time (as told to us). We walked for more than 5 km through a lonely path-way surrounded by trees but did not sight a single bird! Absolute waste of time & more-so, we were all tired after the 5km walk we had inside this so-called sanctuary. Even though there are not... More

The place is very beautiful with a long stretch of walk in the woods. The timing to visit is critical as well as the season. Spotting birds in odd timing is very difficult. Wearing comfortable sports shoe is advisable with a bottle of water. No shops are within the facility. Guards are posted within the facility for support.

You will have to walk and walk. But depends on what time you are there to catch the glimpse of the birds. We were there around evening sunset and could see some of the birds returning home.

Only worth during birding season, otherwise - it is wastage of time during hot days. If you are staying at Kumarakom, check with the resort itself, if they can arrange for boat ride or not?
