The town is about 10 km from Conil. You can park right on the beach for €5 in the “Torrenueva” car park. The town is on a long road that separates the beach from the shops and restaurants/bars. It is the “surfside” in this area with surf shops and surf schools. Small shops invite you to stroll around. We didn’t see any sanitary facilities on the beach.

The beach is very nice for relaxing. You can take very long walks on the beach, north to Conil and south to Los Canos de Meca.

What a great beach this is. We have been coming here for the last ten years and it has hardly changed. Really good family beach with good surf. Our daughter loves body surfing here and ask's to come back year after year. Great food on the roadside , try the tapas bar that is always packed. You will know it when you see it, busy all day from morning till night!
I hope this beach doesn't get discovered by the masses it is wonderful.

We visit Vejer de la Frontera regularly and El Palmer is the nearest beach as well as being one of the best. It caters for all age groups and activities with the busiest section in the middle with surfing etc and all the bars and shops behind. But we favour driving right to the end (the right hand side, beyond the tower), where there are no activities and fewer bars and restaurants. It's quieter and the swimming is gorgeous - no sudden drops, sandy underfoot and no under currents. If you are in a rental car, never leave your belongings in the car as we did some years ago and got broken into and all our money and phones taken - a hard lesson! But this is the same with any beach I think. If it's really windy, which is can be, we switch beaches to one of the lovely more sheltered coves on the other side of Conil (approx 25 mins drive away), our favourite being out at the Puerto. It's a climb down the cliff and €1 to park for the day but worth it as the cove is sheltered and the swimming good but gets deep quickly so not so good for young kids.

This has now become our favourite beach in Andalusia, the Zahora end is peaceful with very little to detract from a great day’s swimming and sunbathing (done in the nude), though bring some shade and a windbreaker if you plan to spend the whole day here.

Beautiful beach with lots of bars to relax in. There’s wind surfing and surfing shops and boutiques. It’s a lovely walk along the front.

El Parmar beach is long and sandy with a big stretch between the sea and the access points to the road. It’s main access point at El Parmar is built up with many bars, restaurants, and shops and is therefore very busy. There is parking and many access points from El Parmar heading to Conil but as it's so busy you may have trouble finding a spot.

The beach has good amenities, is flat and easy to access. It’s therefore popular with families. However, be warned there is little shade so be sure to bring an umbrella. It’s worth mentioning that the beach is also famously windy, so you may want to bring a wind break if you’re keen to visit.

There is an entire section dedicated to surfing and there are ample shops to hire wet suits, surf board and trainers to take lessons on a 1-1 basis or in groups.

The beach stretches from El Parmar all the way to Conil. Between the two, there are dunes set further back that offer some respite from the wind. This area is nudist and is frequented mainly by couples, gay men and women and those preferring a clothing optional beach.

My husband and I were looking for a clothing optional beach and concluded that there are better beaches in the area. I would recommend Los Canos De Meca which is a short drive away.

Spacious, spotless, water colder than on the Med but mega mega chilled. Overwhelmingly Spanish bathers, there is a supermarket on the road leading away from the tower. Occasionally it gets a whistling offshore wind called the Levante which sand blasts you but the locals will tell you if it is due using surf charts.

My family and I have been visiting El Palmar every year for the past 15 years since buying a place in nearby Vejer De la Frontera. The bars and amenities have grown over that time but the beach still retains its slightly hippy vibe and beauty as there are planning restrictions on the amount of development allowed in the area. The beach is clean and well maintained especially during the summer months and there are plenty of options for eating both during the day and night. Parts of the beach have always been nudist and no one bats an eyelid. There are usually surfers on the beach regardless of the time of year and a hood choice of surf schools if you want to give it a try. My favourite timed if year to visit are from april/May to June and again from September as it can get very crowded in July and August although it is still a beautiful beach.

Palmar Beach has a slight hippy feel to it. It is friendly and feels safe and there were life guards on duty too. We liked the beach bars- very laid back - a contrast to the Costa de Sol. Watch the waves and the current though- they can be fierce. Plenty of sand!
