Very nice Beach and especially Scuba Diving with Marlene Marine divers nearby was a great diving experience. With diving instructor Tony, who is very an experienced and very pleasant diving instructor we had a great scuba dive again with lots of Marine life to sea.

Maguana beach is the best beach in the Baracoa area and is generally reached by tourists from Baracoa making a deal with a local taxi driver, to take them there and wait for a few hours then taken them back (one way is about 20 minutes). A day trip on a mountain bike is an alternative way to get there. The quality of the sand is good (medium to fine). The beach is clean and protected by a barrier reef. The bottom drops away quickly ass you wade out. This location is good for snorkeling. Kids will need supervision. There are various vendors selling knick-knacks who can become aggressive when the police are not around. You can obtain a lunch in one of the local casas, but beware of price gouging and padded bills. The nearby Gaviota Maguana lodge hotel (another idea) is overpriced.…

stopped off at a Maguana beach paladar for lunch after a hike in von Humboldt Parque. Food( grilled fish) was good but the owner charged a lot extra for the rice, the salad and the fried plantains, which everywhere else in Baracoa was part of the total price for a meal. It was more than double the price. Be forwarned, avoid these paladars as a plague!! and eat in Baracoa instead.…

Maguana beach. Lovely beach, Nice view but there are a lot of big stones in the water not far out so take care. And look out for the "street sellers" also. Even when I was with four local Cubans, they tried to cheat us. We bought a coconut, but it was already open and had almost no coco water in it with then was thinned by normal water. As a tourist, I am not sure I would have notised, but my Cuban friends knew and got him to bring some more…
