About Lingko Spider Web Rice Fields - Walking Tours
In Manggarai you will certainly notice the impressive lingko fields. The most amazing view over a number of these fields is offered at Cara Village situated on a small hill 17km west of Ruteng in Cancar. With their round, spider-web structure, these pieces of land are unique eye-catchers in Manggarai.

If passing by, it might be worthwhile to stop for a few minutes. The official fee is 15,000 Rp/person, but then I speak Indonesian... The climb up some steps to the viewpoint is just a few minutes (don't bear right, that's a path down to the settlement and offers no views). Manage your expectations... It might be more photogenic at different seasons and at different sun angles. It's not just one such pattern, by the way, but several.

The location was about 30 minutes from Ruteng and we must continue by walk about 10 minutes up the hill. After arrive on the top we can see an amazing view of rice fields that really like spider web. There were many spider webs and each belongs to a family/village. On the gate we met an old man who told us the whole story why they maintain the spider web tradition.

Nice to see if on the area. Short 10 min walk with steps and grass track to get the view. On our way back down a man & his son stopped us to go into their house, we did but it was just to sign a book and Donate 20,000 Rp per person. Inexpensive but didn’t feel authentic. Great view from the top, unlucky with the time of year as it was not as green and lush as other times of the year

The spider-web rice fields were stunning and definitely worth my time visiting it. The colours were vibrant and the sun perfectly positioned correctly for excellent photography. The high school students that were there chatting with me added the day even more worthwhile. They were inquisitive and tried to help. Be ready to sign their books and smile on the selfie shot with each of them 😍😍😍.

The rice fields are a short distance from town. The climb to the top viewpoint is not easy for anyone with difficulty walking or climbing steps. When the steps end there is a distance of dirt climbing. View is good. 40,000 rp for fee is high.
