We really enjoyed our visit to Tundra huskies. We received a very friendly welcome and short but effective safety briefing. The huskies were raring to go and it was really fun both driving and being driven in the sled. We did the 5km trip and it flew by- if you can stand the cold and spare the extra money I would consider going for 10km, especially if that one gives more time on the lake path which was stunning. We loved meeting the dogs after the ride and then warming up in the hut with the berry juice and sausages. Even a couple of reindeer to feed aswell which was a bonus.
We all loved our tundra husky experience. Like most activities in Levi it is pricey, but it was hugely memorable and worthwhile.

Awesome is the only word to describe this experience! Owners/staff were punctual & group size was kept small, only 13 of us. After a safety briefing, we were off with some very enthusiastic huskies!
We took the 10km & I would recommend it as a minimum option as it's exhilarating out in the open & a change of driver was allowed midway.
A very warm "kota"(teepee), sausages & hot juice welcomed us on return. After which we played with the huskies & fed the reindeers.
Pros - well organised, really happy dogs, great hospitality & never rushed!
Cons - I want to do it again!

I spent a lot of time looking for the best huskies experience for my family. I'm so happy that I chose Tundra Huskies. I spent 2 such pleasant hours here. It wasn't crowded at all and we could enjoy every moment. I chose the 5 km tour. Our boys were very happy that they could drive the sled like real mushers. It was a joy feeding the two reindeer of the farm and petting the adorable Siberian huskies. And our hosts were at their best. I admired their ability to keep in line both the dogs and the tourists with such determination and gentleness - all so eager to start the trail.

Experience of a lifetime
To see the dogs and how much they enjoy it.
wrap up warm as although it was -13c for us felt so much colder.
The area they are in is beautiful.
The sleigh ride is just the right amount of time. 10k they say but probably 15 to 20 min

We booked a 10km Huskyride and we would recommend it! The owners are very friendly and the dogs seem to be happy. We got safety instructions to drive the sleigh correctly and went for a 10km run through the wood and a frozen lake. After that, we had lunch with tea and sausages (they also got vegetarian sausages) at a beautiful fireplace at the farm. At last, we had some time to take pictures with the dogs and to cuddle them. We also fed the two reindeers they have. Tom made us pictures during the drive, thanks for that! :)
All in all: Great experience & happy, that I choose your farm!

Riding through the snowscaped forests and across a frozen lake with a team of huskies was a dream. It's clear that the owners are totally dedicated to their 80+ Siberians.
The location was magical, and it was a very professional and seamless set up from pick up. Everything ran smoothly. Our 5K ride was out of this world! I drove the sled, my 10 year old sat in the sled, and they made sure she had lots of blankets to stay warm. She has additional needs, so I was a bit anxious about how it would go, but she absolutely loved it and was enthralled!
After the ride we warmed up in the tipi with a roaring fire, hot berry juice and sausages. Then, it was time to cwtch the dogs! And that was such a special moment. From start to end, it was a truly amazing and unforgettable experience. It was our first time in Levi, and we loved it, but this experience expecially made us decide that we will return next winter!
Tips: it goes without saying to dress really, really warm. We experienced -31° during our time in Levi, but it's fine if you dress appropriately. Layers are crucial, and hand warmers are saviours. We tried the reusable warmers but they were not great. The disposable ones are much warmer and last for hours and hours. Stick them in your gloves and boots before your husky ride so that you can really enjoy it rather than be distracted by cold fingers and toes. I also took a thin fleece blanket for my daughter to add another layer in the sled.
If you're thinking about booking a husky experience in Levi, I highly recommend Tundra. You will not regret it! While in Levi I also tried two other husky experience providers, but they did not match the experience at Tundra.

What a fantastic way to enjoy the company of these remarkable dogs and their owners. From the start in the hut with a wood fire to the enthusiasm of the dogs to get going, the cold and great ride across the vast open space and then end with a warm snack in the hut and a chance to pet these amazing dogs.
A 'must do' for anyone visiting Levi.

We took 10km safari with my wife and the ride was worth every euro. It was great to get to the middle of nature with the dogs.
The staff was very friendly and service was excellent. After the ride we got to the cottage to warm up and there was also warm juice and sausage on offer. We also had plenty of time to pet dogs and feed reindeers.
The trip was a wonderful experience. Big recommendation for the Tundra Huskies Husky Safaris! Thank you and see you next time!

Amazing experience. Owners are very friendly and welcoming. They even allowed my 14yr old daughter to drive which made her trip complete.
Be aware that you will get cold in the fingers and toes and children more so even when covered up, it was -14 today. Hand warmers are great for this. 3 of mine (4, 7 & 9) were crying whilst warming up in the Kota, but they warmed up quickly with the fire going and a freshly cooked sausage in hand and soon were full of smiles again to greet the huskies and stroke them. The owners were on hand to ensure any questions were answered, including the names, ages and all other details of the dogs that were fired at them by my children.
As a family of 6 we were split across 3 sleds, my husband with 1 child, myself with my older child and then the 2 smallest children went in the front guides sled. This worked perfectly for us as ensured our smaller children were with someone used to handling the sleds and dogs. We did the 10km route that took around 35-40 minutes out with the dogs. There’s the ability to swap half way round before heading back across the frozen lake.
I would highly recommend Tundra Huskies!
Thank you again for a truly unforgettable experience.

It has been an incredible journey. The tour has everything included: great service, cute (but powerful) dogs and a lovely location.
The people guide you perfectly through the process and make sure that you understand how to use the sleigh safely. After the incredible tour, you have the chance to warm up in one of the tipi and pet the dogs.
I would recommend this to everybody coming to Lapland in order to make unforgettable memories.

Hello. I am just about to book to visit Lapland in December for my 6 year old, wife and me. We can’t make our mind up whether to go to Levi or Rovaniemi. The husky safari sounds great but would it be suitable for a 6 year old, who’s not used to snow and such cold temperatures?

Hi Robert - we were in Lapland in December and visited both - we took the overnight Santa train from Helsinki, spent a few days in Rovaniemi (Santa Claus Village) and then caught the bus (couple of hours) to Levi (great skiing and just beautiful). We loved both places - if you have time, visit both!
Our 6 year old son went on the Tundra huski safari in Levi and we all loved it - it was the most memorable experience of our entire holiday. We also tried snowmobiling and a reindeer sleigh on our holiday which was great fun. We're from Melbourne and not used to cold weather and we were fine, just have the right gear (esp thermals, good boots, gloves and balaclava) and take a shorter husky ride! Have a great trip, Finland was absolutely beautiful!

Hi how many people can go on each sleigh please? we would be a family of 4 (1 adult and 3 children) or 6 (2 adults and 4 children)
Also would a 12 month old, wrapped up very very warm be able to go?

Hey! It depends how tall the children are. Normally the adult can drive the sledge and the 3 children can sit in the front. And you can get warm clothing and blankets.

5 km Husky safari really isn't far enough, if you LOVE dogs. It is an amazing experience and you'd be much better off going for longer trip. Wrap up warm.
The reindeer farm was a trip we did as part of a snowmobiling adventure, we did a sleigh ride with two reindeer whilst others in our group sat and had a coffee or something. We won!

Hi we are goi g to Levi this December and are booking our activities! We only have the option of a 2km and a 10km husky ride with tundra husky safaris we have 3 children aged 4-9 I see you left a review I was wondering as you had taken part in the activity previously you could give me your opinion on which option would be best! Ideally 5km would be perfect but not a possibility for our dates! Do you think the 10km would be too long cold for the young ones? Or 2km too short! Any advice would be great fully received! Also which Santa trip did you book? Thanks in advance Rebecca

I've emailed Tundra Huskies a few times but has not received any response. Is the company closed for the for the summer holidays? I really want to reserve a husky safari for my family but it is impossible to do so if they do not respond.

Hi. We are an adventure & dog loving family of 2 adults & older teens. This is a once in a lifetime trip so cost is not important criteria but we want the best experience. Which tour? Thinking 10km / 15km lunch or maybe the 25km to the lakes. Thanks for your thoughts. Kim (Australia)

It is an amazing experience!
We did 5km which was fine as the dogs go faster but then it was over all too quickly. I would do 10km or 15km if I could choose again as my husband and I both wanted to mush the dogs so swapped over halfway. Longer distances are tempting but you need to be conscious of low temperatures, although you do have older teens so they should be okay, young children would probably not. We went in January but it wasn't too cold when we visited Tundra.
Perhaps read my review for more detail about the actual day, as the whole experience is wonderful if you love dogs and they go it very well. Also contact Tundra direct as they are very helpful and will be able to advise you best about the longer run.

We are going to Levi for 3 days on 31-Jan-17. Definately want to do this but not sure if Tundra Huskies only do certain distances on certain days? Is this the case? Also which is best 10km or 5km? Heard 10km can get cold but will 5km give us enough of an immersive experience?

Do you practice ethical treatment of your Huskies? I am planning to book a group safari, but we want to only book with a company that practices ethical Husky farms.
