This is just a place for traveler to catch train/transport from Malaysia to Thailand or from vice versa. . Have duty free shop that people often come to buy chocolates. . If want to withdraw money, here only have BSN and Maybank. Post office quite far from train station. . Wait for bus to Kangar town in front of Maybank.

Search for "Arked Niaga" on google map or Waze. Arked Niaga is selling pirated branded cloths while the market beside selling Thai snacks (3 for RM10), place to grab some pulut (glutinous rice) too! Remember to bargain to get good price, speak Malay (Bahasa Melayu) or Hokkien dialect if you can, price is differ depends on who you are. Skip... More

You may want to visit Padang Besar main complex before proceeding to Thailand border. There are a lot of shopping stalls in these small town just before the immigration complex. Some budget hotels are also available or else stay in Kanagar city or Arau which is less than 20 minutes drive.

Firstly: hope the administrator of this page can change the title from Jalan Besar to Padang Besar so its easier for ppl to find / see and read reviews about the border town vs the main street in the town which has nothing to write about. We visited the town using the new train service and spent half a day.... More

This is the border between Malaysia & Thailand. It is just a market that sells various of tidbits and other stuffs that you can get from many places in Malaysia and yet cheaper than in Padang Besar. But don't forget to try pulut mangga (Sticky rice with coconut gravy to be eaten with mango fruit).. Not the best one like... More

The border town before the immigration checkpoint. Nothing special here, you can find the same items anywhere in Malaysia at a cheaper price if you go to the night markets. Titbits, those shiny things women put on their tudungs, souvenirs, t-shirts, you get the idea. Most sellers accept both MYR and Baht. However, beware of the so-called 'duty-free' shops selling... A long one hour drive from Kuala Perlis Jetty Point to Padang Basar. Border town of Malaysia & Thailand. Lots of shops selling almost the same things, namely clothes, local tidbits (snacks). Prices not cheap considering the location. You can get these stuff cheaper elsewhere in Malaysia. Can visit this place just for an experience.
