About
Tenuta Ruffino Poggio Casciano is nestled in the picturesque Tuscan hills, near Florence. "Poggio" means hilltop, offering Renaissance vibes with a modern twist. Our underground barrique tunnel aids soil and microclimate research, improving top-tier wines. Refined accommodation, Tre Rane restaurant, and Enoteca Ruffino wine shop ensure a good time. Tours led by our Brand Ambassadors ignite creative learning. Vineyards stand at 320 meters, cultivating Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. Amid the challenging soil, we create magic in every bottle. Iconic labels like Modus Toscana IGT, Modus Primo Toscana IGT, and Alauda Toscana IGT are crafted here. Poggio Casciano Estate, where history meets innovation.

The domain and the house are extremely impressive and very well maintained. A big plus is also the pool area.
The breakfast is delicious and the lady taking care of preparing it is super nice.
The room we have stayed in was spacious, nicely designed and with a perfect view to the garden. The 2 minuses of the room - 1. no proper place to put your clothes in, moreover the long dresses and 2. In the shower there is no place to put the shower gel/shampoo or anything else.
The restaurant Tre Rane is opened only during specific days and hours, which made it a challenge for us to eat there. Few weeks before we bookes a dinner online, which was immediately confirmed. During our stay there, 2-3 days before the dinner, we were informed that actually the restaurant is closed for dinner and they canceled it by default.
Other than that, the experience was nice.

We organised a tour of this vineyard online and what an absolute gem to find . Ruffino emailed back promptly and scheduled our visit for 1030am for the Monday morning . Due to a traffic incident on the autovia we arrived 45 mins late, so we telephoned about the delay and the staff were so helpful and understanding . We were met by a member of staff on arrival ( Francesco) , He then led us to a nice seating area , where he provided refreshments , Cappuccinos , water before the tour even started . Also he showed everyone where the bathroom facilities were .
We booked the Taste of Tuscany tour which should have been for 90 mins , our private tour was a good 3 hrs ! We was told the history , wines , and then had the chance to taste the wines they produced. His knowledge was amazing , and well worth the €25 each . We had cheese , hams and wafers with the chance to taste 4 bottles .. The whole tour was fantastic , and the highlight of our Tuscany trip. Well done to you all at Ruffino

Excellent accommodations. While waiting for the tour to begin we were treated with water and espresso. This was our second tour of the day and what a contrast! The first was old and traditional while Ruffino was a beautiful blend of extremely efficient modern technology and the tried and true traditional ways. Best of all was our Brand Ambassador, Enxhi. She created a very intimate experience despite the size of the group we were part of. Her personal experience inspired many questions from the group. I've been told that Ruffino can be found at our local Trader Joe's and I do plan to stock up next time I go grocery shopping!

Finally after a couple of trips to Florence I made it to my favourite winery, Ruffino. (The wine featured throughout the HBO hit series The Sopranos)
A couple of years ago our tour was cancelled last minute due to unforeseen circumstances at the winery. The hospitality staff made great efforts to show their sincerity and sent gifts to Canada.
We took a taxi from Florence to the winery which was a 25 min ride through the Tuscan countryside.
We visited in March 2019 and finally got to experience the “Tradition vs Innovation” tour. It simply superseded our expectations. Our host Emiliano took us on a tour of the winery and was extremely knowledgeable and proud of the legacy and quality of Ruffino.
The tour ended with a sit down wine tasting of 4 of Ruffino’s finest wines, accompanied by meats as cheeses.
A trip to the gift shop allowed us to purchase the wine we enjoyed and were given souvenirs and gifts from our host.
I would highly recommend this winery and tour.

Thanks to the link on the winery's website, we were able to arrange a truffle hunt prior to our amazing winery tour and fantastic lunch.
Giulio spent time with us prior to the event going over the history of truffles and truffle hunting, the differences between the 2 types, and what to expect on our tour.
After a quick drive down the road, we set out up the hill with Giulio and his 2 amazing truffle dogs - Maga and Etta. Within 5 minutes Maga found a truffle! Over the course of the next hour, 4 truffles were found that we brought home, and a few tiny ones that were shared with the dogs. Highly recommend this experience!
After the hunt we had a great tour of the winery, including an indepth history of the founders and the history. I would come back again!

Stopped here while driving around Tuscany stopping at various wineries. Ruffino was our favorite , we did not call to plan a tour, but Greta made us feel welcome and skipped her lunch to tell us about the winery and have a tasting. Beautiful grounds and very special wine thanks to Greta

We went to Tuscany in August of 2013 for a week of wine tasting. One of the vineyards we visited were Ruffino. We had an absoluty excellent time. First of all the estate is amazing, both surrounding and its buildings. We meet with our own private guide, that we had booked in advanced, who was a fantastic guide. She took us around the main building, the production and the cellars. The cellars are the best maintained cellar we have ever been to. After the tour we had a wine tasting session which also included their olive oil and grappa. Defenitly worth a visit!!

Didn't realize until the morning we were heading up there that you need to reserve a tour. I emailed them a few minutes before we left the apartment but no answer by the time we left. Headed up there anyway. Later saw that they emailed back just a few minutes after.
Arrived at the estate about lunch time so we walked around a bit and soon a car entered the parking lot & Lydia got out. She asked if we were the one's that emailed that morning! A few minutes later she was giving us a private 1 hour tour. As it was September, it was harvest time!
We went to the crushing/initial fermentation room and through the cellars, then on to the tasting room, Bought a few bottles for our stay in Tuscany.

Don't rely on your GPS - make sure to look for Tenuta di Poggio signs - not Ruffino. We arrived late but were still welcomed. Lidia was delightful - very attentive and informative. Suggestion would be to not have lunch before but to do their tasting with wine - nice room with a beautifully set table. Great wines!

This is easily reachable from Florence. A large vibrant city, it is the capital of Tuscany.

Hello... how far is the Ruffino Winery from Florence ?
Written February 18, 2019
Uber does not seem to be available all the time, to your winery.
Is there another way to get there?
Are you open on Monday?
