Interesting mixture of Byzantine, christian and local village remains, temple alter, suggestions of cremation burn areas and pottery still popping up everywhere

This unique and wholly fanscinating place is a 'must see' venue. The hairs on my neck stood up as I felt like I was at the beginning of civilisation.

It takes about 20 mins to climb up and you have to be reasonably fit to master the steep hill, but it is worth the wait to see the old temple ruins, which are the old stone pillars of the old temple and the other artefacts they found on excavations. The views of the surrounding area are stunning - a memorable experience albeit strenuous - reward yourself with a drink afterwards !

We visited the site believing that we would only see the ruins of the Temple of Apollo. However, we were so surprised to see the Temple of Zeus, Temple of Apollo, a small theatre, and an ancient stadium for early Olympic Games, dating back to 3BC. Truly magnificent to see, and a great mini history lesson for my 10 yr old daughter too. Well worth a visit!

Take a donkey to the top and back, so much fun and no need for a long walk. Walk down to the beach afterwards and enjoy a meal in the beach taverna which was really well priced with excellent views over the bay
