Thursday 7th September and and we visited the coastal town of Ribeira Brava on the Southern coast of the Island

We walked along the seafront promenade which abutted this beach. We walked as far as the lighthouse, the spiral staircase and the passageway through the cliff leading to the small port. That was the interesting part.

The beach comprised of what looked like compressed grit and concrete. The derelict look was further enhanced by the fact that there was nothing on the beach, no sunbeds, umbrellas or other facilities.

Perhaps it was late in the season and everything had been removed off the beach. In it's current state it could not be classified as a tourist beach or attraction

We had so much fun going down to the Fajãdos Padres beach with the cable car.⛰ The operator gentleman Nélio Roda was so helpful and nice to us.🙏🏼 Extremely recommended place to visit if you are in Madeira. The views were stunning on the way down, up and on the beach as well.🌄🏝
The beach was amazing too, the water was lovely and we have seen some beautiful fishes under the water. (Recommended to bring swimming goggles)🐠🐟🐙🦀
We enjoyed our time very much. :)

One of the very few sandy beaches in the area. With protections built from the ocean, there is natural sand beach created by the ocean currents

You can quit on that. Big rocks, dirty water. Really nothing like a real beach and even not what Madeira is famous for

We stayed a week from 24th December, nice apartment overlooking the beach. We had 10 days in Funchal before this, so it seemed really quiet, not a lot to do, especially at night. We found a nice restaurant with terrace overlooking the sea (muralha terrace), nice food. Beach mainly stones with small area of imported sand, outdoor pool was bit cold but ok. Beware shop on the front with large tubs of loose nuts etc, preys on tourists. Will try to sell you macadamia nuts v expensive, gets you to mix 3 different types then says he cannot take back when you find out the price, as they are mixed up. Charged one lady almost 50 euros. Also very pushy salesman. Triangle cafe also not great, only welcomes locals, but underground 'pub' is ok, pool tables and nice girl working there, something to do at night.

Visited in April however, the weather was great. It was a lovely place to spend the day, very relaxing by the ocean and there are nice restaurants to eat in.

As normal to enter the ocean is little bit tricky, but very pleasant area, and a lot of free space for leisure, swim, catch the sun and enjoy life

Can't understand why our guided tour took us here?!

Really not nice!

Dark beach, stones, concrete....

Shabby beachwalk and terrible dirty and disgusting so called snackbars!

OMG 🙉🙊🙈

Avoid this place as beautiful Madeira has so much nature and nice places waiting for you!

A small beach mostly stony with some sandy areas. There is a freshwater inlet running out into the sea at this point. When we visited there was a lovely swan and some ducks swimming in this part of the beach which was nice to watch. Not huge but real sand which is not common on madeira. There is a multi storey car park virtually opposite.

Small touristy town on the beach, the beach itself is quite small but perfect for swimming and altough still aimed for the masses, it is just 15 minutes from Funchal which can also be reached by just taking a cab. I loved the views from the sea and the cycle infrastructure is quite good as well, also nice for a cup of coffee, though the hiking paths are closed due to falling rocks.
