What an unbelievable experience and family vacation all in one trip! Booking with Cruise Abaco was easy and the best decision we could have made! Their “Captain by Day” approach allowed us to have great ASA sail training during the days… while we enjoyed some great family time every night! I was looking to earn my ASA Certifications… so I was all over the internet looking at BVI, USVI, Bahamas, etc. Then, my wife decided she wanted to learn (in case something ever happened to me!). As we were looking at the various companies that offered training… we though “why not bring the kids (all in their 20s)”? As we looked at chartering our own boat, finding a caption/instructor, etc., Cruise Abaco quickly rose to the top. Bonnie was phenomenal in getting us info, quotes, working with date changes, etc. We received our ASA books with plenty of time to read and prepare for the training. They made the process easy. We arrived at Marsh Harbor Airport and met Alex, holding a big Cruise Abaco sign, who was their with his Suburban to pick up our group of 5 (thanks again Bonnie). Upon arrival, we quickly met our Captain / instructor for the week… Captain Joe. Our 8 day trip aboard “RISE” was amazing. A “virtually” brand new 42’ FP Astrea, that was impeccably prepared for our arrival. Completion of our ASA 101, 103, 104, 114 courses … taught by one of the best instructors/coaches I have ever worked with! The best vacation we have ever had as a family (said by my kids!!!). Captain Joe was our sailing instructor, history teacher, comedy act, and more… we were fortunate enough to hear him play his guitar and sing his songs! He also made sure my kids had a great time as well… he got them involved in sailing/anchoring/mooring, took them snorkeling, brought my son a Pole Spear to see what he could catch (8 grouper in 30 minutes… nice addition to dinner). CAPTAIN JOE WAS FANTASTIC! Captain Joe has so many ways to share his knowledge… he can connect in so many ways with everyone. We drilled tacking/jibing/picking up mooring balls for what seemed like forever… but when we made our approach into the tight channel and easily picked up the last mooring ball in Little Harbor… we knew why. The tasks were easy after we practiced them so many times! Hope Town, Man-O-War Cay, Little Harbor (Pete’s Pub for Friday Sushi), and Tahiti Beach (Thirsty ‘Cuda and dinner Firefly)… this trip was AMAZING!!! Cruise Abaco is a First Class operation… great people and a great Teachers. The boat was spotless… even when we had a problem with our Mainsail Halyard… Chad (the Owner) was out with a Bosun’s Chair to go up the Mast to fix it. I had a chance to see some of the other charter boats in the Abacos… All I can say is you cannot go wrong with the Cruise Abaco Fleet! We are already planning our return trip to the Abacos… and Cruise Abaco! Next time on a bigger boat so we can have more family/friends along… and we will definitely get Captain Joe for another day or two of “referesher” training… or just have him hang out with us again!

A truly amazing operation! Everyone, from Bonnie in reservations to Captain Calvin to Short Mon on the docks was great. Calvin was not only an entertaining skipper but also an informative and patient instructor who managed to get us through ASA 104 and 114 despite missing two days due to the tropical storm. The Dellis Rae was clean and very well equipped. The Abacos are wonderful and we can't wait to come back. We will definitely be using Cruise Abaco again. Highly recommend!

Pretty Lady was in excellent condition. Clean, comfortable, spacious and sailed well. We used the captain by day, bareboat by night plan and were exceptionally pleased. Calvin, our captain, was personal, capable and respectful of our time and plans. He made the trip for us and we highly recommend Cruise Abaco and Calvin.

Wow! We booked this trip based on recommendations from our local sailing community in the Chesapeake bay. What a great experience. From the excellent communication at booking through the final departure, everything was exceptional. We feel like we win the lottery with Capt Joe too! His instruction and patience won our attention and respect. He is a real asset to Cruise Abaco. We can’t wait to book the next trip.
