My wife and I recently did our 4th catamaran charter with Navigare (3rd here in the Abacos). We can't get enough of this type of vacation. After the first trip, I decided to work toward my license and found the NauticEd program through Navigare to be a wonderful experience. This was my first trip without hiring a captain (although I highly recommend Marquis Knowles as a great captain and local guide).
We got the boat (Katie -- 42 ft Lagoon) on schedule and the checkout with Naz and Rosie (and Ashley) was informative and gave even more peace of mind that they would help take care of us if anything came up. The boat is a little older than the others we've had, but is a 2020 and had everything that was necessary; it was just missing a few frills we had in the past. Everything worked flawlessly and we had no problems getting out and around to a safe area to anchor for the night.
The entire area is so much fun and you feel pretty safe since almost everywhere we sailed was less than 15 feet deep -- except the brief time you go outside of Whale Cay on the way up to Green Turtle and that area. The deep stuff was only about a 20-30 minute passage around that island before you're back in the protected shallows with minimal waves and very little chance of sea sickness. This was not always the case in the BVI where the waters are deeper and more areas were exposed to the ocean, but still fun. We enjoyed the Marsh Harbor staff more as well, but we were in the BVIs at an odd time and mostly for my NauticEd check-off sail so maybe they can be this much fun -- we just haven't seen it yet.
We had some rain and temps were cooler this time of year, but seasonal with it getting dark pretty early, but the trip was well worth it. We had rain one night and some sprinkles one day, but the rest of the weather was great for sailing and enjoying the Sea of Abaco and the local restaurants and shops.
Erik, the dock master for the marina, was gracious and friendly when we came back to base and helped us with getting tied up at the fuel dock and was very encouraging with my first solo attempt at that. Jeff helped get us fueled up and Naz took the boat from the fuel dock into the slip, which took most of the stress off me as a new captain -- it was great!
We are both now fully addicted to this type of vacation where we get to choose where we go next and when we leave, whether we cook or go out to eat, whether we are lazy or try to reach top speed on the boat.
The entire Navigare staff is amazing with their care and concern and their ability to make you feel at home as soon as you meet them. The short trip from the airport is inexpensive and easy. Shopping is nearby. Restaurants and the Conch Inn there at the marina are amazing.
We are scheduled to be back in May for a graduation trip and can't wait for it to get here.

We took a bareboat charter of a Lagoon 42 catamaran. This was a 2023 boat and in excellent condition. The Navigare staff were very helpful and friendly, as were the folks at the Conch Inn and Marina who own the marina itself. The Sea of Abaco is a wonderful cruising ground, largely sheltered from the open Atlantic by the barrier islands (Cays) to the north east. The water is glorious, and the area affords a variety of anchoring and mooring locations that let you pick idyllic isolation or a port with services, restaurants, and more. Groceries are inevitably fairly pricey; everything must be shipped in, however helpful hints that can help control costs are crowd sourced on noforeignland.com which allowed us to find good reverse osmosis purified water at US$3 / 5 gallons, instead of imported water for US$12.50 for 2.5 gallons. (Water is heavy!)

Our second charter out of Conch Inn Marina, last was 2017 pre Dorian with Sunsail. We came back for more as the Abaco’s offer outstanding cruising conditions. Sandra and the base team provide first class customer service and prepare excellent quality yachts and provide detailed briefings and are always on call during your charter to assist. The Bali 4.4 is a superb yacht with the huge fridge and rear door. Navigare have become our first choice charter company, we have been with Navigare chartering in BVI’s, Greece and Seychelles with top class Yachts and customer service.
It’s better in the Bahamas, we will be back.

We had amazing catamaran Bali 4.4 Ptarmigan. Equipted luxury with all the stuff working as expected. Sails were also in great shape and overal Ptarmigan had great performance both on sails and engines. Stuff in marina 10/10. Helpful, comunicative and suportive in all aspects. Great intro (skippers meeting) before our trip. For me great experience and will be back again. Thank you.

We chartered a Lagoon 450F catamaran in the Abaco Islands. Had a fantastic time. There were minor issues wirh the boat, "Stella," but the Navigare staff were super knowlegable and made things right. I will definitely charter with Navigare in the future.

Our captain did not give muster or any safety or informative briefing. He sailed drove beautifully snd took us wherever we wanted. No muster no. No tour of boat ever, unless we asked when we couldn’t find something such as bathroom light switches, gas on stove, never knew where life jackets were until last day. These things are critically important.

We had an amazing time! Our captain TJ was knowledgeable, experienced friendly and professional. He took us to some amazing spots. We got to snorkel, see sea turtles, sting rays, sharks and more. The boat was comfortable for our family (my husband and I, two kids and my husband’s niece) and the kitchen had everything we needed. We cooked 50% of our meals on board but also ate at some local restaurants. This was a magical vacation and we will definitely use Navigare again.

Excellent overall experience. Great new boat Lagoon 51, all systems new and functional, high winds, and great family fun. One has to be pretty experienced captain to do this as navigating shallow waters is tricky

We did lots of snorkeling, with stingrays and sharks. We took the Whale Cay Cut to cruise the north for 2 days, then headed south back to hope town, explored some uninhabited islands, checked out tahini beach. We sailed on a Lagoon 42, which was more than enough for our crew of 5. We used a check out captain, for the first day, as we were a little rusty on sailing a boat this big. The boat was fully ready to go with towels, snorkel gear, a functional galley, a first aid kit, and more. We probably did about 80% of our trip sailing and the rest motoring. The wind was great for sailing this time of year. This is our second time sailing with Navigare in the Abacos, and we absolutely loved it! We will be sailing with them again, hopefully soon!

The Navigare staff were very helpful and accommodating. They had our Lagoon 42 ready for my son and I when we arrived and offered many useful insights during our chart briefing. They were flexible in permitting the extra range we needed to explore the areas we wanted to visit. The water and cays of the Abacos were stunningly beautiful. We had a fantastic week in paradise, and there were no surprises or hidden fees at the end of our charter.
