The three main traila are between Thames, Paeroa, Waihi, Te Aroha. The prettiest is between Paeroa and Waihi, via Waikino, slight uphill, but easily doable by novices like me. Bike hire in all the above places, we based ourselves in Paeroa (Pedlars Motel strongly recommended)....More

Our own bikes were damaged on the way down from Auckland ,so we had a delay and had to hire bikes at short notice. Michael at the bike hire had our hire bikes delivered to our accommodation so we could go on with our holiday...More

I took my 8 and 7 year old sons on the trail and completed Thames to Paeroa (33kms) on day one, Paeroa to Waihi (25kms) on day two. All I can say is it's one of the best things I've ever done with them! Great...More

Bump! I'd love to know the answer too as thinking about taking our 10mth old. The bike rental guy said people do take little ones and they often fall asleep!
