Impressive nature
Sep 2020
The Pont d'arc is quite impressive I must say. We did the short kayak tour, which is quite alright if doing the kayak trip with kids.
Although the beaches around the pont d'arc were crowded I think that it was less crowded then during peak season. I must see natural attraction when visiting this area of France.

Breathtaking

Pont d’Arc is amazing! I booked our whole trip around it and despite being busy it was still wonderful, so much bigger than I imagined. We parked on the south side and walked down to the beach. Swimming upstream under the arch with deep blue skies overhead is a life affirming experience. Highly recommended (avoid the crowds if you are lucky enough to able to!)

Extremely crowded but must see
Aug 2020
We visited by canoe. It was extremely crowded. We took a couple of pictures (mainly from the mass of people) and then went on.

A mandatory stop for nice pictures
Jun 2020 • Couples
A nice place along the gorges road, very touristic, so full of tourists swimming and rawing. Probably to avoid at least the weekends in summer, but always worth at least a stop for some pictures.

In the height of summer its busy!
Jul 2019
We hired canoes and paddled down the Ardeche to le Pont d'Arc and this is by far the best way to see this incredible feature. We had previously driven down the valley but the car park was full and the road was conjested so although we could see the Pont d'Arc we couldn't appreciate it as much as we did when canoeing.

if you do paddle down the river also be prepared for this to be busy but its a more leisurely way of taking in the sights and enjoy swimming in the river under the Arc.

Lovely spot for a photo opportunity.

Lovely spot and a large car park just across the road. It was quite busy when we were there but still worth it. Dogs enjoyed a swim! Public toilets on the pathway between car park and the river.

A natural wonder.
Sep 2019
Pont d'Arc is one of the great natural wonders of France. The river Ardeche had carved its way through a range of Limestone hills creating a deep steep-sided gorge on the way to meeting up with the Rhone quite a few miles to the east. Originally, at the entrance to the gorge the river followed a sharp meander around a substantial limestone escarpment, but over time the water dissolved away the rock until it broke through creating this magnificent natural rock arch.
The 'hole' is apparently 59 metres wide (194 feet) by 34 metres high (112 feet), so it is more than big enough to allow this substantial river through.
From reports on TripAdvisor and the like, backed up by the number of campsites and canoe hire shops nearby it is busy at the height of summer. By all reports the river is more akin to the Arc de Triomphe at rush-hour and if you do join in the industrial scale duck race on the water you will be lucky not to get a paddle round the back of the head if you stop to look up at the arch.
Parking is more organised these days, with a big pay & display car park a few hundred yards away.
I did however manage to avoid the crowds as I was lucky enough to sit and watch the sunrise here at the end of September, and as a result I was completely alone. All I could hear were the sounds of birds and the quiet babble of the river. Now that is the way to experience this place!

You have to take a kayak
Aug 2019
Unbelievably cool. Still in good pristine shape. Not overly mobbed but the area can hold a lot of campers/guests. Don’t forget to visit some some of the caves in the area (chauvet2, avern orgnac). Worth at least 2-3 days in the area.

Stunning

An absolute must if you are visiting the area.

We hired canoes and went down the river with the rapids and the canoe slides which are great fun.

The Arc its self is amazing, as are the gorges you paddle down to get to it.

Its a real iconic place and as the other reviews say, is very busy with all of us tourists using the beaches and jumping off the rocks, but even so, it’s definitely a place you must visit.....
