A visit to this place is a must. I simply loved this monastery. It is very well maintained, quiet and has amazing views of the surrounding moon landscape. It is quite a climb so be prepared.

Lamayuru Monastery is one of the oldest monastery of the region - there are several temples in the campus - very very old but well preserved. The different statues of Lord Buddha inside these temples are huge in size.

This place is famous for its moonland hills rather than monastery but the route to the monastery is awesome from Kargil and Leh both ways. This monastery holds traditional importance of Buddhist religion.
