Just a short way along the street from the town hall, this lovely Baroque church is worth a visit. Rebuilt after the 1693 earthquake, it has an impressive facade and beautiful interior with an oval plan and ornately painted ceiling. Well worth a visit.

This jewel of Sicilian baroque is located on the pedestrianised Via Penna, just a few steps from the town hall. We experienced this magnificent place when visiting Scicli on 23 July, 2019. A beautiful church in the upper part of the town, there has been a church on this site since the 7th century. Reached by a flight of steps, it is quite an impressive sight. With it's cross on the top of the facade, it is the highest point in the whole town. You can go up the tower - I didn't but my husband did and there are amazing views over the town from here. Check with your hotel about opening times which seem to vary between website and books. Definitely make the effort to visit.…

I'm not one for late over the top baroque so the simplicity of this church came as a pleasant surprise. The parishioners take great pride in the painting of christ in a dress which upside down looks like a chalice. If it was a contemporary painting I think it would be regarded as blasphemous!…
