We visited La Mongie on a beautiful day and were surrounded by awe-inspiring views of the Pyrenees. It was very hot. Unfortunately there was a lot of work being carried out with lots of dust and many places were closed. Clearly preparations for the tour de France.

This is a great place that has a great reputation with many French tourists but is underused by the English in favour of the Alps - which in my view have too long transfer times, patchy customer service, busy resorts and inflated prices. You'll find an up and coming resort with staffed by folk who love the place and want... More

Interesting mountain residences with lots of restaurants and bars and ski shops, with great convenience for the ski runs. There are lots of varied lifts and runs right near the accommodation. You can also access the Pic du Midi from here.

Some donkeys roam freely and are very keen to make your acquaintance in the car park - will nose into your car boot looking for eats! A ski centre, so very touristy and prices to match, but some lovely walks in the summer.

The first time we visited this area we hit by the ugliness but thought no doubt it looks better in the snow. Went back again this year and it is still ugly but as we wanted to take the cable cars up the Pic du Midi we couldn't avoid it. What we discovered was that not only is it surrounded... More

We live only 1 1/2 hours away from this local ski resort, and go almost every year, wether for a day trip, or if the weather is good, a couple of days. Lift tickets are not that expensive and it gets you along the whole mountain! You could spend a day just getting from one side to another! My daughter... More

If you want to take the gondola to Le Pic du midi and it's April/May, make sure you ring or go to tourist bureau in Bagneres to check if the gondolas are working. They do maintenance at that time of year and we got caught out. You would think there would be a sign on the road letting you know!

Friendly small ski resort under the pic du midi. Quiet in October, but staff at restos still very helpful. Petite et charmant. Tranquil en Octobre, néanmoins, le restos tres sympa et pas trop cher. Bon etape avant ascendre Pic du Midi

Not a lot to say about this ski resort. In summer the cable car to the Pic du Midi runs through the day. You can stay up there overnight with guided visits to the observatory. The restaurant offers basic food and on a good day the views are superb. It is said that on a clear day you can see... More
