In my memory, it was a really beautiful place. Rural and peaceful. It is where to see the sunrise perfectly. Yuan Tuo Jiao is the closest place of enjoying the sun rise up from the sea. However, this year when I came back, everything looked different. All those granite roads were gone. All those wooden pavilions were gone. There were I heard the government is building something new. Maybe a huge aquarium. The only thing left was Yu the Great sculpture.

Took a drive over the new Chongming to Qidong bridge just 'to see how far it is' and take a look at what is on the other side. Followed the signs to this place and wished we hadn't. Face value of tickets is Rmb20 but we were only charged Rmb10 so at least someone has some shame. Just wanted to get near the see but you can't even do that here because a huge land reclamation project is taking place which I can only suppose is the latest money making scheme for the area because it is definitely not this 'scenic park'. Some very sad looking fibreglass elephants (one with broken trunk) and a grinning inanely monkey king. On the bright side, the parking is free.
