    Fantastic beach
Absolutely love this beach. 4th visit to this beach and stay at Amari…….last visit 2019, then no more THANKS COVID. So clean and the sand so white. When the tide is out you can walk out to the island or breakwater wall as water only up to just below the knees. Great to walk from one end to the other.....quite a few kilometres.......lots of bars and restaurants along the way. Annette and David (Australia)

    Nice beach, better ones around.
For a few days were there the sea was very rough. The beach can be slightly overcrowded this time of year. The tide is quite far in which means not much beach this time of year. Been here before June/July time and much better that time of year. Tide was further out, calmer sea. Would I come back to this beach? yes I would.

    Good n Bad !!
Chaweng Beach in one of the topmost attraction in Koh Samui. The certain part of the beach is very crowded with a lot of bars n restaurants, water sports, beach massage facilities etc. In this part sunbeds with umbrellas are easily available but it is little dirty due to a lot of hawkers. The quieter side of beach was much better. It was was less crowded and cleaner with lesser facilities. We preferred this side. We also tried one evening Chaweng main street. It was quite bad.

    Great Beach!
Thailand beaches are among the very best in the world. While staying at the Muang Samui hotel, we had access to this amazing beach and we fell in love with it. There was a breakwater that kept the waves down and its shallow enough to wade out to the breakwater easily. Keep an eye on the flags on the beach because on several days, the water looked clam but the current was surprisingly strong.

    Thailand is still beautiful
Haven't been to Thailand for 13 years and was a little apprehensive that things would've changed. However the beach at Chaweng is stunning, water is beautiful. The Thai people are a beautiful as I remember them. Granted, we stayed a little outside Chaweng & did not venture in at night, however, I can't imagine the Thai hospitality being any different, just perhaps the atmosphere.

    A beatific beach!
The beach was as brilliant as ever last summer and my friends and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves in what were clear, translucent waters at the time. The atmosphere was festive with fun-loving crowds in abundance. We felt blessed to share the fun with them.

After having heard that this beach is the best on the island and seing so good photos and reviews we thought that this was the place to visit for a nice day at the beach. Wrong!!! Probably those that say these things either dont know about beautiful beaches or havent travel before.
Skiping the fact that taxis for a distance of 6-7km want more than 20 euros which is a clear robbery, trying to forget that in order to find an entrance to the beach you need to walk more than one kilometer in a road full of shops, bars, expensive resorts which all have blocked any access to the beach and with prices higher than London, Paris and New York for everything (ex. Burger from 12 to 22 euros)...finally we found the tiny entrance path to the beach, which was full of scooters.
Beach was very crowded and sea very dirty.
In order to find a place to sit and relax you need to cross all the beach the way back you came just to pass all the resorts that I mentioned before which they have overtaken all the beach. At the end of the beach you will find two spots if you want to have a drink, both of them very dirty, unorganised and not interested to serve at all, not a single smile.
Probably beach used to be nice long time ago. Now is only for those that have money and people from countries with bigger salaries that dont care to spend large amounts of money for a coktail in plastic cup.
Very dissapointing beach and place. Not recommended at all.

This place isn’t for me . It’s loud and lots of empty restaurants during the day .
The actual beach is lovely with soft golden sand although still very loud .
Some may like it but I like a more relaxed quieter vibe

Chaweng Beach is a lovely beach with a unpredictable tide. I would highly recommend visiting during sunrise it is absolutely stunning - a great picture moment. Lots of hotel restaurants and bars along the beach front along with pop-up Thai massage tents and beds with is a must visit.

Our experience on Chaweng Beach included several beach walks a day and also on Chaweng Beach Road night. We stayed at the Casa de Mar (nice hotel) at the north end of Chaweng.

The previous views about dogs have completely overstated potential concerns. Street dogs are everywhere in Thailand. Having said that, we would see only a few dogs on our walks. If you don't show interest, they ignore you. Certainly, the idea that many dogs are roaming about spoiling the beach experience was not true during our three-day stay. We heard a toddler crying in the room next to ours but not dogs barking all the time.

Judge for yourself whether Chaweng is the right beach for you but dogs are not a problem. PS: When you see a reviewer with only a few reviews, dig deeper for information.

Travelled from the cruise port in a taxi which cost 2000 bhat return and took about 30 mins.
The sun beds were well padded and cost 200 bhat with a great view out to sea. The beach is beautiful, pristine and picturesque.
The sea was a little rough but so warm, we had a glorious day here, food and drink are available at very reasonable prices

People come to Chaweng just for party - just like us. Thus the party is in the nigh, during daytime there are only a few places to stay on the beach (if you don't want to rent a beach chair) and the prices they have are amazing. They charged us 80 THB for a 500ml bottle.

I spent 7 days in Chaweng and went to the beach there most days. The beach is amazing, 6km long and beautiful soft powdery sand and the sea is really clear. There are plenty of bars, restaurants and places to get a massage on the beach. I also went there for drinks at night and there is a good vibe. The only downfall with this beach is you are constantly hassled to buy things off people going up and down the beach. It’s constant from 9am till midnight, they don’t care that you’re trying to have a nice meal they are still in your face pushing you to buy something. A lot of the beach clubs will let you use their sun-beds for free so long as you buy some drinks and food there. I stopped at Elephant and Combo beach clubs and both were really nice.

Beach looks totally teopical like something from a magazine.
Lots of building works of hotels going on up and down the beach.
Loads of small non toxic jelly fish along the shore line but thats nature I guess.
If you head to the very north of the beach to the area cut off by rocks which act as a wave break and keep going to the very tip then you have the warmest, stillest cleanest and clearest waters we have ever seen. Nice and shallow for small kids with some cheap beach bar type places for a drink and food. It took us 35 mins from our hotel nearer the south of the beach walking along the beach at a very fast pace to reach this area but we did it 2 out of 3 days.

On a sunny clear day this beach is very pleasant. No currents and the water is warm.

There are a lot of beach goers but never over crowded since the beach is long stretch of sand. The sand is also decent which is looked after by the property that occupies it.

Definitely not what it used to be, but also not entirely due to Covid. The streets are quiet and most shops closed, but the decline and neglect was present well before Covid hit. Guest desires have changed, expensive to get to Samui, and the overall decay of Chaweng beach is showing everywhere.
